Don't really believe too much Clayton saids, but I would love Taylor for the right price. Big, physical, blazing speed, and one of the better CBs in run support you'll find. We'll probably have to offer more that what the Steelers will but I like the fit.
Would love to add Ike. Rotoworld thinks he will be asking between $6-7 million per year which I could see SF easily paying. Not a bad corner class for free agency.

The consensus around Pittsburgh is that Ike is top-priority. He has said himself that he sees himself as a Steeler. With that said, Kevin Colbert and the Steelers have a history of letting guys walk once they hit a certain age and dollar mark. The thought is that the closer the number gets to $10 million, the less likely he'll be a Steeler.

Appartently Alex Smith has paid for at least one 49ers player to attend organized practice. Alex paid for Ronald Johnson's flights to and from the Bay area.

Quote:
Due to the ongoing lockout, sixth-round draft picks like him have very little money in their pockets. So Johnson stayed in the home of former USC teammate Taylor Mays. Meanwhile, Smith, who is technically a free agent, sprung for Johnson's flight back and forth from his home in Muskegon, Mi.
http://blogs.sacbee.com/49ers/archiv...e-johnson.html

Say what you want about Smith but that gesture is LEGIT leadership.

Alright. Once again, I'm on board the Smith train. Let's go!

What are the odds Crabtree makes it to through training camp? He has never done anything to make it appear he wants to be a member of the team whether it be hold outs, opt out language, dogging it in camp with "injury", putting in half-assed effort on the field, etc. His teammates don't seem to like him with Davis wanting to stomp a mudhole in his ass last year and now Alex Smith not defending his absence from their workout sessions.

Does he have any value to any other team? What options are there in a brief free agent period before training camp if he gets cut/traded for used practice socks?

Didnt you hear? Crabtree is going to the pro bowl this year.

I hate to say it but Crabs is the niners best WR right now. Im hoping that his lack of production was due to Alex Smith not really looking for him and that Harbough will correct that.
Meanwhile a team like Green Bay has two if not three WRs better than Crabby patty

When you throw the ball to a receiver and it looks like he's playing dodgeball, it's best to check to the next target.

Really? I understand Crabtree has made his share of mistakes but the guy has only been in the league for 2 years. Already fans are calling for a trade? Because he isn't attending these glorified "workouts" that over 70% of the team has not participated in either? How quickly have we forgotten just how much of a headache VD was his first couple years with inconsisteny and immaturity. He got his act together and now he's considered one of the best at his position. Crabtree had great rookie season, all things considered, and a subpar sophmore season. He may not be the most personable guy in the world but that should hardly be a reason to write him off as a whole. I have no problem with Crabtree doing whatever he is doing elsewhere, as long as he is keeping himself in shape and is getting better at his craft. The media feels the need to need to drum up uneccessary drama with these "Where is Crabtree?" storylines. We all know the guy needs to improve but I haven't heard anything that suggests he's not doing just that. When its time for him to show up, I trust that he will, ready to play. If not, then your sentiments will be warranted. Only time will tell.

Yes, Really.

When the only person associated with the team that seems to like Michael is Michael that may be a bit telling. Other than appearring in a matching uniform once a week what does he do that makes him a Niner?

That's your perception. Who says Crabtree doesn't have friends on the team? He's more of a loner. That's not a crime last I checked. You act like the kid is out there sexual assulting women, carryin concealed weapons, and getting DUIs. And frankly, I could care less if the guy didn't have one friend on the team, as long as he does his job and they do theirs when they get between those lines on Sundays. Like I said before, the kid may need to improve his work ethic but at least give him the chance to learn from his mistakes. Has he been late to meetings? Has he been a no show to any mandatory team functions(excluding his holdout)? Has he missed any practices that he was healthy enough to participate in?

You see a kid that "just doesn't get it and never will". I see a kid who is probably shy and withdrawn who doesn't really like getting in front of reporters/cameras and talking about himself. He'd rather be playing football. The media tends to spin that as a guy who's not very likeable or as a guy who's all about self. They used to say the same things about Charles Haley, who incidently had incidents off the field to substansiate some of those claims. The media likes guys who are accessible. They loathe guys who make a habit of brushing them off. This is why the majority of them spin stories about Crabtree in more of a negative light from my perspective. He had the little incident with VD last TC but if memory serves me correctly, VD has made a habit of these little TC skirmishes since his rookie year. And he was knocked for his immaturity by Gore and others, on record, his first couple of years. Like I said, give the kid a chance to learn from his mistakes and be a better player before crowning him as the "anti-Niner" and trying to ship him elsewhere.

Agree. Isaac BRUCE was a player notorious for being a bit of a loner and disliked by media-types. If it weren't for Josh Morgan complimenting him here in SF, people likely would've felt porrly towards BRUCE, as well.

Punches self for combining Ike Bruce and Torry Holt.

I see a guy that plays scared shitless on the field who makes a business decision on every play.

How you compare him to guys that bust their asses making temamates better when the ball doesn't come their way is hilarious. This is a guy that has found every reason not to build chemistry with his quarterbacks including avoiding training camp and pre-season games. Nobody expects him to be best buddies with the other guys, but at some point he does need to be a teammate. Being shy has nothing to do with shirking duty.

Ever see him extend for a ball in traffic?

It looks like he's a db practicing a tip drill out there. He plays like the old Rams receivers when Lott roamed centerfield for us. I think you need to look back at all those ints caused by Crab's tips when he heard steps last year before the ball quit going his way. Name a receiver that looks more scared of contact than him from any point in Niner history. Lloyd who didn't give a damn if we didn't win or lose could be on the list and who else?

Who the heck is Isaac Holt? Did you mean Isaac Bruce?

Of course. See what I get when I try to sneak a post out from work and my brain is elsewhere. Good catch. I'm an idiot.
