Miller will make the team. The question is whether Norris will. He has gotten the majority of reps this preseason and is the only player on the team with FB experience.
In an ideal situation Norris is cut and Miller/Walker are your FB's but I think Harbaugh realizes that Miller is so raw that Norris may be necessary.
It's sad to realize that Nate Byham's knee injury not only leaves the team looking for a better blocking TE but likely requires them keeping Norris. I think that if Byham were healthy he would be both the team's #3 TE and shre FB duties with Miller and Walker.
Oh well.
|
Out of those three ILB's, who do you think will be the 4th? Blake because of his ST play? Cause I have no idea.
As for safeties, I meant to say five, not four. I'm pretty sure will make it with Whitner, Goldson and Smith being kept. Could see Spillman and Williams being kept but ideally, I would just keep one of them.
It sucks that we lost Byham for the season and its weird that he's not on IR. Oh well, im still hoping to see Norris gone.

Yeah, I saw that on PFT. Shocked they cut McCown. Tebow??? No thanks. He's overrated badly. If Harbaugh/Baalke acquire him, my confidence in them will decrease. Palmer would have been a good veteran stopgap but NOT at what his salary is which is like $12m or so. Thats nuts plus if we trade for him, what would be the point? He cant start since he wouldnt know the offense and having him as a backup is ******* insane.

LB Keaton Kristick was not released today, according to agent. He will only miss a week with his ankle injury.

I see Jones, Costanzo, and I Williams as possible guys who get cut to make room for new guys.
Person might also be a guy...

Tomorrow, we'll see who makes the PS and if our team makes any moves this week. Surprised they kept 5 ILB's and 6 safeties.
Patriots released FS Brandon Meriweather. Thoughts about going after him?

I think Williams is safe. Good young NTs are generally a hard to find so I think he stays put. But the rest of the guys you mention defintely. Especially Costanzo and Person.

If that Pats don't want him, why would we? He was a starter last year.

If Zeigler and McKillop were cut 1 year after their ACL injury, it makes me wonder if the same will happen to Byham next TC.
I see Jones being the first one out if the team brings in someone else.

The Pats were about to replace Meriweather with Goldson lmao. Pass
The cuts were pretty standard this year. No real shocker, no favorite that was cut ALA Kory Sheets. I think Tony Wragge and maybe Phillip Adams contribute to another team, outside of that...meh. It also looks like Bruce Miller will be the backup FB/TE (there's that versatility again), so i'd be surprised if we add a TE. I think the major roster change will be for a 3rd QB,and it might be Tolzien believe it or not.

Don't be sure Tolzien makes it 2 Chargers PS. This was a risk. Teams r interested. Could be a 49er. SF liked him in July & he did well Thurs

They have really tightened up special teams with Costanzo, Kristick, Spillman, and Jones all making the roster.
Was bit surprised to see McCown get the ax. But then again it doesn't matter who fills in we are f'd if the 3rd QB plays.
Joselio Hanson was released yesterday. Would like to SF sign him add more depth to our secondary and a likely starter.

I seriously doubt it. The WCO is a far different beast than Coryell system that Turner runs. That will be some adjustment. Plus Harbs said he has confidence in CK as his #2 so I dont see how this would change that. My question is who gets cut to make room? Jones? Person?

Sorry but who's this QB we just claimed off waivers? And Hanson WAS a 49er back in 2004. Would be funny if we brought him back.

Don't see us cutting Person, that would leave us a little light on the OL. I think the first 3 players on the chopping block are Colin Jones, Keaton Kristick, and Will Tuakufu, the last players on positions that are a little deeper than normal. Since we claimed Tolzien i expect one of these players to be waived and then added to the PS.

Scott Tolzien.
He just played against the 49ers on Thursday and looked terrific. He was a tremendously solid while unspectacular QB at Wisconsin.
I had him as a 5th-6th rounder and top 10 QB in this draft class.

Hanson struggles terribly on the outside and does sxtremely well in the slot. He would be great as a nickel CB but no way would I want him starting on the outside.

O-Line...
Joe Staley | Mike Iupati | Jonathan Goodwin | Chilo Rachal | Anthony Davis
Alex Boone | Daniel Kilgore | Adam Snyder | Adam Snyder | Mike Person
I think Person can be placed on the PS if need be. Only dress max-7 OL for gameday anyways and Person is behind Boone as the swing tackle.
Snyder is the key swingman being able to play all five positions. If he were to get injured we could call Person up from the PS.
