Trade deadline has already passed on Thursday anyways. There is a reason why Jacobs wasn't in that high of demand and the Niners signed him to a one year deal on the cheap for a backup role. Only in Madden could you get a mid-round pick for him.

I said it months ago and I'll say it again -
Jacobs sucks and we never should have signed him, period. Would much rather see James get some playing time instead of Jacobs. Jacobs will be the 2012 version of Braylon Edwards. LOL.

Well, Jacobs hasn't seen the field. So, there are no snaps he's poaching from James. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if James or Jenkins never see the field this season.

Jacobs was an insurance policy that we haven't needed yet and hopefully won't. It doesn't necessarily mean that he couldn't have performed if the team had needed him to. He's a more proven insurance policy for carries than a lot of teams have. Jacobs was never signed with the idea that he'd need to carry the load.

I never said Jacobs was taking snaps away from James. All im saying is that I would rather see James get snaps instead of Jacobs. I want to see him and Jenkins play. At this point, I wouldnt be shocked if James and/or Jenkins doesnt play this season either unless injuries happen.

He was an insurance policy to backup but Gore has played great this season thus far. Just hope he doesnt wear down later in the season. If Jacobs is going to cause us problems, hopefully Harbaugh and Baalker will let him go like they did with Edwards last season.

Well just for the sake of firing this back up I saw today that it looks like Darius Fleming is going to stay on the PUP the rest of the season.
Jewel Hampton was removed from the PUP and is going to begin practicing.

This was a great bye week. The 49ers are going to have ended up playing one game in around 23 days by the time St.Louis rolls around. San Francisco better stomp the Rams. Because the Bears come here next and then the 49ers go to New Orleans.

I believe we're undefeated when Jimbaugh has more than a week to prepare for a opponent. I trust the team will come out and take care of business versus a Rams team that seems to be reeling much like the Cards team we faced before the bye.
I had been somewhat worried about the lack of sack production out of our interior guys in Cowboy and Ray Mac. Then I read somewhere that after the Vikings game, we made a concerted effort to rush the passer in specific rushing lanes and keep QBs in the pocket, rather than rushing wide and possibly having guys break contain and hurt us with their feet much like Ponder did, and I started to kind of see the big picture in terms of our pass rush. Seems weird that Cowboy hasn't had a sack at all though. Like really weird.
But its hard to argue against the raw numbers when discussing are ability against the pass. The 49ers are first in the entire NFL in passing yards allowed per attempt, second in passing yards allowed per game and opposing passer rating. They allow less than one TD pass per game (0.75) and that's the best in the league, too.
Your defense can't possibly lead the entire league in points allowed per game(12.6 ppg compared to the second-place at 15.0 ppg) if they lack a pass rush. Our secondary hasn't been this formidable in a very long time. So though the sacks are down, our pass defense overall is much improved. I think the emergence of the best nickelback in the league(yea I said it) has a lot to do with it. Cully is definitely in the house. And Goldson seems intent on letting everyone in the FO know he's a top 5 FS and deserves his money. And he better get it.

Honestly this upcoming game should be a stat-padding game. I'm hoping for a shutout.

Rams aren't really that bad, at least not as bad as they showed against the Patriots.

They are still out matched against the Niners. This should be a shut out like last year.

Cortland Finnegan and Janoris Jenkins do scare me a little bit though. I think they've both played pretty well for the most part and are clearly an upgrade over what the Rams had last season. Still weird having Fisher in the division after all of those years in Nashville.
By the way I forgot how old Kaepernick was. He just turned 25. For some reason I thought he was 22 when he was drafted, not 23.

This game will be very close. I'm laughing at anyone who thinks otherwise. That Rams pass rush can be absolutely brutal, and they will be amped. Our passing game will have a challenge establishing a rhythm.
Bradford is a lot better than his stats indicate too.

Looks fantastic. Can't wait.
By the way, we need a new gameday thread going.

I'd normally agree with you, because I think this Rams team is on the rise, but I'm not seeing a close game this week. Coming off the bye and playing at home I'm seeing a double digit victory this week... and I don't say that often with this 49ers team. We'll see.

Sorry guys, GDT might be done tomorrow (hopefully). Life is making it tough to get these done. And by life, I mean Halo 4.

I see it as another game like the Cards a couple weeks ago in which the Niners get a lead and play a methodical, run-oriented game in which the defense come in to hold the lead in the second half, with not a lot of action. The score will only run up if the D creates some turnovers/scores themselves. I'm thinking something like 23-9, with Legatron getting a couple 50+ yard FGs.

Halo 4??? I made a $57 profit on that game including the $20 promo at Best Buy and selling off the pre-order DLC codes. LOL.
For me, im just waiting for the best damn game of the year -
HITMAN ABSOLUTION!!!
Halo, Black Ops, UGH, just more generic FPS. UGH.

This is a Niners forum gentlemen. If you're going to go off topic, I'd rather it include pics of hot women, even if they have nothing to do with Halo 4, Hitman, etc.

Gameday Thread is up.
Whew. Didn't think I'd get it done this week. I'm sure that would have guaranteed a loss.

Our schedule the rest of the way is pretty tough.
Week 11- Bears
Week 12- @Saints (they're hot lately, and this game has been marked on the calendar for the Saints since the schedule came out)
Week 13- @Rams
Week 14- Dolphins
Week 15- @Patriots
Week 16- @Seahawks
Week 17- Cardinals
Predictions?
I'll say 4-3- W over CHI, STL, MIA, AZ. L to NO, NE, and SEA. Although i think the game @ SEA could be a tossup to a win. Just don't like flying from NE to SF after a SNF game, then flying up to SEA on a slightly short week.
One thing is for sure- we've been following a pattern all season. win win loss, win win loss, win win...tie?
And it seems like we lose/tie every time the media praises us. Before the MIN game PFT ran a story about how we were 6-0 in the EST, then we lose to the Vikings. Everyone thinks we'll kill the Giants and we get smacked. Barrows runs an article on how we're 8-1 when the coaches have more than a week to prepare and we tie the Rams. We're so much better with an underdog mentality.

Right now, I don't see us beating Seattle in their place the way this defense is playing. I said before the season we would split with them and I'm sticking to that.
Not too worried about the Saints. Not guaranteeing a victory or saying it won't be a tough game but at this point, our divisional games are more important and all seem like a dogfight compared to that one. Saints offense is still scary but that defense is invisible.
I can definitely see us beating the Patriots. I think they're severely overrated and that secondary is god awful. And that should be right around the time when ppl are doubting us so maybe they go into Foxboro with a chip on their shoulder. Could be like the Steeler game was last year when ppl questioning our validity and what to make of us. We came out and were really dialed in.
We better give the Rams the business at their place. No excuse for the way we came out Sunday and heads need to roll.
I have no clue for next Monday. Depends on which team shows up. I know that defense is for real and the offense can't sleep walk through the first quarter like it did Sunday. And whether Cutler plays or not, this defense has got to wake the hell up.
So I'm gonna say we finish 10-5-1 to end the season. It should get us in the playoffs. And thats all that really matters.

I think we will finish 11-4-1. We will go 2-2 against Chicago, New Orleans, New England and Seattle and win the rest.
