Somehow I get the feeling that the round 2 pick will be a RB.

I say we might as well just cut Roman and open it up to competition between the young guys. SOMEONE should be able to play a decent centerfield for us. McCloughan basically implied the same thing today.

Outside of that, I feel like we could still nab a RT in free agency in Khalif Barnes or Ray Willis. That leaves us looking for a pass rusher, possibly a NT, a RB, and later on a ILB, WR, OT depth...which we have plenty of picks for.
Johnson and Delmas would both be massive upgrades.

Call me crazy but something tells me the Niners' FO is praying that Williams, the recent signing, will kick ass and be the best back up for M-Lewis or over take him and that Dashon will stay healthy and take over Roman's spot.

Gibril Wilson was just cut. He might be worth bringing in on a reasonable deal. He's not an elite FS but he's a definite upgrade over Roman and at the very least he would be a nice stopgap while we put the finishing touches on Reggie Smith or Dashon Goldson. Even though McCloughan stated that our starting FS is most likely already on the roster (Smith? Goldson?) he said this before Wilson was cut. He'd be worth bringing in on a reasonable deal.

Hopefully, he is from Northern California.

Hmmm, so im guessing Goldson or Reggie Smith are the Safeties he's talking about? Or maybe even Jimmy Williams?

Anyways, assuming we have a competition for FS and sign a RT in FA, here would be my 3 round mock.

R1- B.J Raji, NT
R2- Clint Sintim, 3-4 OLB
R3- Andre Brown, RB

Positions to focus on from round 4 onwards- TED ILB, 3-4 OLB Pass Rusher, Return Specialist, developmental QB, FB, WR, blocking TE.

Gibril Wilson is an "in-the box" typoe of safety. He wouldn't solve the teams FS issue. Jimmy Williams weighs 230 lbs and doesn't look to be in the mix at FS either.

Clint Sintim... he's talented and it's a great 3 round mock but I'd be upset if the 49ers selected a 3-4 OLB that isn't much of a pass rush threat. That seems to be the biggest knock on Sintim is that he isn't a typical 3-4 Rush OLB and may be better suited as a 4-3 OLB.

49ers have interest in Wilson:

Question: The Raiders just cut Gibril Wilson. I know they said they weren't likely to pick up a safety in free agency, but he's pretty good.
KC, Sacramento

Answer: He's definitely on the 49ers' radar. The fact that he's from San Jose only helps the process.

He did start 13 games at FS in 4 years for the Giants... All in 2007 recording 92 Tackles 4 INTs and 1 Fumble Recovery. If he isn't commanding near the money the Raiders signed him for he would be a great addition because of his ability to play both safety positions well.

James Harrison and Joey Porter are not your "typical" 3-4 Rush OLB but they have success. Then again, the Steelers also have Lamar Woodley who is a typical rush OLB, so maybe they compliment each other. But the point is, if he is a good player then he is a good player no matter what position he plays. We could also really use another ILB because Takeo Spikes was the starter last year and he is not getting any younger.

if they are going with someone on the team at safety, or wilson, then i think you can go ahead and put in loadholt in the 2nd. khalif barnes is it for fa, and i think now that he is the only tackle out there worth anything he will get bid up to be overpaid.

Oh, I agree. My point about Sintim is that he's not a very dominant pass rusher and that's what the 49ers need.

Singletary said in his press conference that they are looking for a blocking TE to complement Vernon Davis. Guess that means Billy Bajema won't be returning next year.

How is Billy Bajema? I think the Jets may look to bring a guy in to back up Keller. Is he a good blocker?

Yes, but that's absolutely ALL he is. He's had 2 catches in 46 career games.

I'm sure they'll meet with as many of the potential players available at #10 as possible.

I don't think it has any bearing on his likelihood of being drafted by them whatsoever.

After reading that you wanted to see SF re-sign Bajema, I looked outside my window because I thought the world was coming to an end but amazingly, it didnt.

I don't think we will have the chance to take Stafford. I really wouldn't doubt that San Fran uses the whole Sanchez story as a smoke screen to try and bait someone into trading. Or possibly to try and get Raji, or Brown or someone like that to fall to us. I remember last year the Rams saying they were interested in McFadden.

I hope not. We could get great players in the 3rd at RB.
Possibilities:
Shonne Greene (especially after running near a 4.7 at the combine)
Arian Foster
Andre Brown (though I think he might of ran his way into the second round with a 4.49)
Rashad Jennings
Javarris Williams will be there in the 4th as well.

I would be fine with any of those guys and I guarantee at least one of them will be available in the 3rd. I would be somewhat annoyed if we went Rb in the second.
