There Will Be Busts
There will be busts. It's inevitable.
Who do you think will be the busts out of this draft? Feel free to include why or if you just have a hunch.
You cannot name: A QB, Andre Smith, Percy Harvin, Derrick Williams, Aaron Maybin, Michael Johnson, or Robert Ayers because everyone's heard the bust scenarios for those guys already.
My choices:
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly
Cedric Peerman, RB, Virginia
Louis Murphy, WR, Florida
Marcus Freeman, LB, Ohio State
Victor Harris, CB, Virginia Tech

How could Peerman be a bust? He will be a late round pick

For a first rounder- either out of the league after a few years or simply not living up to draft status (example: a top-10 pick stays in the league, maybe with the same team, but doesn't play much WR is nothing more than a KR).
For a mid-late rounder- out of the league after a few years or gets a shot and moves around a little but never really shows that he was worth a draft pick.

Aaron Curry- he is to good to be true...remember Robert Gallery
Vonte Davis- couldn't keep a starting job in college, how does he expect to now
McCoy
William Moore
Jarron Gilbert- to good to be true, remember that other DT 356lb, could do perfect cartwheels, picked by the Bengals.
Duke Robinson
Britton-will end up as a backup/RT, he will also should have been a second pick.
I think this draft will be a relapse of the 05 draft.

Brian Orakpo - IF he goes to a 3-4 team.
Brandon Pettigrew - Will be considered a bust due to his less than spectacular numbers. Reality may be different.
Jason Smith - He has great potential, but he needs a lot of work yet.

And if a late-round pick either A) sucks B) never plays or C) gets cut is that not a bust?

Louis Murphy (things have happened a little too fast for him. They will catch up, and he´s not mentally ready)
Kenny Britt (his attitude can be a problem)
Michael Johnson (Too one dimensional)
Some DE who´ll be forced to move to OLB because of the 34 hype.

Not really. There isn´t expected a whole lot from them, and even to just get a few tackles on ST could be considered good value.

Josh Freeman. I don't buy him as an NFL QB, let alone a first rounder.

And I'm adding no Michael Johnson to the original post too.

Agreed. Especially on Pettigrew. I say he becomes Ben Watson/Daniel Graham. You don't pick a TE in the top half of the first round to average under 350 yards per season, even if he is a good blocker. You can get guys like that in the 5th round.

Hakim Nicks. Way too slow! I dont see him getting any seperation on his own. When ever I see him open it looks like it's becasue he's playing aginst a horrible CB or horrible scheme.

I could see the bust factor there. Without elite speed, can he get separation from NFL corners? It doesn't help that we didn't get a chance to see him in a pro-style offense.

Something about LeSean McCoy irks me. I think it's his knack for emulating Reggie Bush.

Watson/Graham is a gray area more away from "bust" status IMO but it's interesting to hear that people think Pett won't be a good receiving threat in the NFL.
IMO his receiving skills are completely overlooked because he's an OK blocker and most of the other TEs are either one-dimensional or more athletic.
Before his senior year, Pettigrew's forte was his pass-catching ability. I think he's going to be a complete TE for a long time and as a pro prospect he jumps out at me as an obvious solid pro in the same vein as Heath Miller at UVA. JMO.

I agree before I was all Nicks, but now not so much. Britt is much better between the two, Britt gets open from route running.
