Looks like we might not get Flo. When he visited, I guess the money situation didn't work out. I'd still try to get him in the fold, though.

Maybe what will happen is what always happens. A new guy will step in and establish himself. I dont necessarily believe the worst thing in the world is willie colon going down. Nor do I believe its necessity to go out and sign the highest profile free agent who nobody wants and overpaying.
I never get the panic. The steelers always prepare, they always have backups. No player is "indespensible" . except for #7.
Its strange though everyone associated with ben gate is going down. colon, cops who were there, capital city nightclub

Pretty good read and a touching story.
Nice to see that not all Steelers had terrible off-seasons, lol.

So the off-season is boring and I did a little mock, just with seniors.
1. WR Jonathan Baldwin, Pittsburgh
2. C/OG Mike Pouncey, Florida
3. DT Kendrick Ellis, Hampton
4. S Ahmad Black, Florida
5. DT Phil Taylor, Baylor
6. RB Derrick Locke, Kentucky
7. K Kai Forbath, UCLA

I want a top OT next year, this wall is a joke. I want the other Pouncey bro aswell, but our interior line is better then the tackles.

Ike Taylor is set to become a FA next off-season. This likely means that 1. he'll have a good season, and 2. he'll want a big amount of money.
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_688896.html
Let's see how things work out.
It's going to be a complicated off-season if no new CBA is achieved. I bolded the ones I think we need to resign no matter what.
Other free agents:
- Dennis Dixon (restricted) - future QB depth
- Mewelde Moore - Got Dwyer, maybe Summers or Redman, or another rookie
- Matt Spaeth - Got Sean McHugh, David Johnson + Heath
- Willie Colon - Need him, virtually no depth at OT
- Trai Essex - Expendable with Pouncey's versatility, and Foster and Scott improving
- Tony Hills - Has not amounted to anything
- Chris Hoke - Old, and while good for us, the other guys are more important.
- LaMarr Woodley - franchise, transition, whatever is necessary, our future
- Andre Frazier - way too much OLB depth for him to be important.
- Keyaron Fox - #4 ILB, unless he comes for min, he leaves.
- Ike Taylor - #1 starter, lot of young guys that have proven nothing
- William Gai - only come back if cheap, good nickel CB
- Jeff Reed - Need him
- Daniel Sepulveda - Need him
We better start locking some up soon.

I don't think Ike will take a massive pay day. He's the one Steeler that always takes salary cuts to help the Steelers in getting more cap room for other players.

maurkice at C and mike at RG....damn id be so happy with that
baldwin would be a stud within a year, ellis is a big time talent who doesnt get much public acknowledgment and my boy phil taylor is a massive force at NT. ellis and taylor would sure up the dline for years and might even make hood somewhat effective with how much beef would be on the line with him

As would I. We'd go from not having a good center nor a good RG to having two guys that could be great in either position. They'd be interchangeable all the time.

I can only hope and dream that we get him. We'd have the perfect receiving corps. Deep threat in Wallace, sure hands and slot in Ward, short yardage/semi possession receiver in Randle El, mismatching Miller, and Baldwin as an all-around beast.

Yeah, Rey Rey is a ******* monster. I want to watch more of Robert Sands from West Virginia. He's big and can hit. Plus he has nice ball skills. I think he might be a little too big to play FS in the NFL and I think he might run a 4.7 in the 40.
I might make up a mock here shortly. Also, on July 29th or 30th, the new thread will be up.

I don't know what I'd do if for some reason when we pick both Baldwin and Patrick Peterson are available.
Also, it seems that the team will move forward with Jonathan Scott at RT.

Yes it would be good to have, but we would still have a **** o-line with Ben taking 40+ sacks a year, then we can go look for a new franchise QB aswell. What I want from next years draft currently: OT, Mike Pouncey, WR, ILB, DE. I don't want P. Peterson either, we have a lot of young guys there, I doubt we will waste all of them.

Yeah, that's basically what we'll target. As for rebuilding the O-line, I think the team just needs to ignore their petty "no big spending" rules once more and get a/the players we desperately. Also, draft the other Pouncey. Chemistry is essential for good O-line play, and these guys definitely have it.
The team needs to pursue a top notch free agent offensive lineman this offseason, like with Hartings. There's going to be a lot of talent available, as well.
- OG Deuce Lutui
- OT Jared Gaither
- OG Marshal Yanda
- OC Ryan Kalil
- OT Doug Free
- OG Rob Sims
- OT Charlie Johnson
- OT Tony Ugoh
- OT Matt Light
- OT Logan Mankins
- OG Carl Nicks
- OC Nick Mangold
- OG Max Jean-Gilles
- OT Marcus McNeil
- OT Donald Penn
- OT Jeremy Trueblood
- OG Davin Joseph
If it were up to me, I'd actively pursue Jared Gaither and/or Marcus McNeil, two guys I don't think will be back with their respective teams next year. Ravens have Oher and are happy with, who is it (Yanda?) at RT, and McNeil apparently doesn't fit AJ Smith's future plans as he doesn't want to sign him. Both guys are going to cost a pretty penny, but they'd really help us.
Gaither - Kemoeatu - Pouncey - Pouncey - Starks/Colon/McNeil?
A huge line, and all (with the exception of Gaither) can be true run-maulers.
Ahh, if only...

Yeh thats nice for a dream, but I doubt we'll take anyone from that list, especially not from the Ravens. My biggest fear is that the FO will just ignore Oline once again, draft a WR in the first round then send BB to IR (he survived enough, there is a chance he'll end up there).
I'd really love to sign McNeill but I think the Chargers won't let him leave, and Light is out of his prime, as I said we won't sign from the Ravens so our best option is a first round OT (we could get one in the 3-4 but that would be as useless as anyone on our team currently).
We need to get the oline in a shape, because currently it's a joke then get some young guys on our defense (I know you guys liked the Worilds + Gibbson pick, but one of them will be a backup for 2 or 3 years, and the other will be a reserve for his life (probably), we could have got Cody + Gibbson instead).
P.s.: Sorry for my bad english, it's my second language + I'm a bit drunk :)

As a free agent, the Ravens are no longer involved, so it would be even better to sign him, as the Ravens would have to play him twice a year. But yeah, it's only a dream.

The only two guys I'd like in the first right now (OT) are Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi and the guy from LSU, I forgot his name. Those are the guys I think could play LT in our scheme. Castonzo is also a candidate, but he's too finesse for me (though TBH I haven't seen all that much from him).
And your english is fine, but then again, it's my second language as well. :)

Gabe Carimi is my favourite target aswell, but I'm afraid he won't be there where we pick (at least I hope we won't pick as low). The LSU guy is Joseph Barksdale and I'm not so high on him currently. My dream is a trade-up for Carimi, but we would have to do into top3, where the first tackle usually goes and I'm pretty sure it will go that high, since the Lions-Rams-Browns has their QB, only Bills might draft one (I'm a Brohm-supporter, that guy needs to get a chance) they will turn to drafting something else and the Lions and Bills need a LT. If we end up in the top5 that will be a big shame, but then we might gona get Carimi.
My current mock is:
1. Jason Pinkston, LT from Pittsburgh - As I said i don't like Barksdale, and he'll be avaible at where we pick 15-25.
2. Mike Pouncey, RG from Flordia - Well we might have to trade up a bit for him, he might go as high as 1st round.
3. Don'ta Hightower, ILB from Alabama - He is a big question mark right now, he might go in the 1st round, or fall into the 3rd.
4. DeAndre Brown, WR from Southern Miss - A WR I really like, could fit our system.
5. Christian Ballard, DE from Iowa - Well, to be honest I have a mancrush on Worthington so I'm not even sure if we need him, we will see.
6. Zach Heberer, OG from USC - We need depth for sure, and USC linemen are not bad at all.
7. Brian Rolle, ILB from OSU - Well we are drafting OSU guys to our defense it seems like, he might work out.
