Default 2014 Gameday Thread: 49ers at Giants.

Greetings from Tokyo. I'll be watching NFL Sunday at 3am Monday morning here. I hope the 49ers whoop the Giants ass. Didn't think we would make it out alive against the Saints after dropping to St.Louis. Felt like the season was on the line on that 4th and 10. Even though we won, that isn't necessarily a game I'd love to go back and watch. We still gave up four sacks, and played like **** in the second half letting the Saints back in the game. The entire affair would have been over if Anquan Boldin catches the passes he kept dropping. We lead the NFL in drops and it's getting alarming.

Anyways, we SHOULD win this game. I really hate this team. It's hard to go into any game with confidence though because the 49ers play down to their opponents level so often. The Giants defense has apparently been dreadful both against the run and the pass in certain instances. If we can click on all levels we can knock them on their ass, which I would love to do in their house. I do think New York will be playing with a lot more confidence because of what happened to them against the Seahawks last week though. We just have to find a way to buckle down and not kill ourselves with stupid mistakes. At least Aldon Smith is back. Hopefully he can be dynamite early.

I'm calling a blowout because I want it. 49res win 31 - 7.

niners roll in this one

in other news:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11...tice-clean-mri

looks like we aren't deactivating him for the season. He obviously must be in better shape than what's being reported these days.

The team's probably going to take and wait and see approach until we get in realistic range of the playoffs which wont begin to take shape until after the Seattle games.

The best player on this team is on the cusp of returning. Can't wait to see 53 patrolling the field once again

Justin Smith has been playing all year and he is number 94, not 53.

lmao straight trippin. do you know anything about this team? Justin has been by and large the MOST RELIABLE player on this team over the years and was arguably our driving force/best player 2 years ago when we lost to the Giants in the NFC Championship game, but beginning early last season, BOW has been tops.

Ugly win, but it's a road game and we had to have it. The defense played lights out. Probably the best performance of the season. Aldon Smith added a much needed boost to the pass rush. And Chris Borland continues to play like a megastar. It's ridiculous. Aaron Lynch had his best game and continues to be a menace. The unit picked off Eli Manning 5 times tying his career high. Also I think Chris Culliver might be "back". Playing with high confidence the last two weeks.

The offense has to start to show up. This is getting really annoying. Folks can blame it on the coordinator, the quarterback, the receivers, the blocking, whatever. It doesn't matter. The entire unit is a trash bag right now. We still haven't scored a fourth quarter touchdown and we've already played half our games. WAT!? The D can't bail the offense out every single time. Vic Fangio is clearly the 49ers MVP of the season.

In other news, Seahawks lost. Alex Smith still doing work for the 49ers. It's about 6:30am here in Tokyo now. My eyes are about to explode. Worth staying up though for the win. Probably going to make some GIFS later of the key moments of the game.

The offensive line and running game cannot be blamed for the offensive problems yesterday. They played great, albeit against the Giants. Kaepernick's inaccuracy is the problem. The coaching staff needs to realize that he has no touch and anticipation and give him easy throws to make.

The good news is that we control our own destiny for a wildcard spot. The Cowboys, Cardinals, and Packers are winning their divisions. That leaves the Seahawks, Eagles, Lions, and us fighting for two wildcard spots. We have the same record as the Seahawks and still have two games against them. We are only one game behind the Eagles and Lions but the Eagles are clearly collapsing. We just need to keep on winning and we will get a wildcard berth.

They can't close out anyone. No killer instinct; stepping on the throat. Eli hands them the game and they don't have it locked up by the 4th quarter and the Giants get 2 changes in the last 5 minutes to get a GO AHEAD Touchdown. They can't do this against any team, let alone good ones and expect to make or advance in the playoffs. The 2 upcoming games against the Seachickens will likely decide their fate of whether they get into the playoffs or not.

Team leaders and impact players dropping like flies, getting put on IR. Where would this team be without Baalke owning the 214 Draft?! So many rookies have contributed and played key roles so far. Hats off to him for yielding such quality depth.
