Matt Stafford's Summer Vacation!
http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf..._lions_ji.html
The Detroit Lions held their first team meeting of training camp on Saturday morning and it was a long session as head coach Jim Schwartz went over a variety of topics. At the end of the long discussion on rules, regulations, policies, etc., Schwartz wanted to reconnect with the players on a more human level.
According to someone who was in the room, Schwartz said that it had been about six weeks since he had seen the players and he wanted them to know more about their head coach as a person. Schwartz then had a PowerPoint presentation on what he did on his summer vacation, showing pictures of he and his family enjoying their time off.
At the end, Schwartz said, "I thought I had a fun vacation - until I saw this.''
Schwartz then went back to the PowerPoint to show several pictures of one of the Lions rookies. The entire room burst into laughter. You can see those pictures right here.
"Yeah, that was pretty funny,'' said quarterback Matthew Stafford, who knew something was up. "I knew he was going to do it. As soon as he put up the "Schwartz Family Photos'' I knew it was coming.''

He just looks funny if you ask me. I'm sure the $72 million helps out with the ladies though.

I'm not usually one to harp on what a player/coach does during their time off, but I dunno, I guess I would have expected a rookie coach going to a 0-16 team to skip the holiday for year 1.

what does Jim Schwartz have to do with this?
but if you meant to say "rookie QB," then perhaps you've forgotten that between the end of the mini-camp and training camp, they're not even allowed to be in the team facility. That is vacation time. What is Stafford supposed to do, go sit in his room for a month with a towel over his head? Lift weights 12 hours a day?
