Sorry but this post is just a flat out joke.
First of all a pre-season poll is a projection so last season is only one of the factors that should be taken into account.
Expanding on that. If 33 of last years 40 touchdowns were scored by underclassmen and you return 36 of the td's you have some margin of improvement.
returning your leading sack-artist as well as your tackle leader and most of the defense and all but 1 of your offensive players that helps as well.
Just another question, why is everybody bashing ND's schedule whilst its quite a bit tougher still than a schedule like that of for instance penn state.
Also keep in mind that there were a bunch of teams that would have been expected to be good (michigan, washington) or at least mediocre but prolly better (washington state and purdue) when the games where planned.
We play
1 non-bcs team and that is quite a capable and dangerous team in nevada with one of the more exposive offenses in college football.
I do give that ND has a favourable schedule due to a lot of teams not returning their qb for instance (usc, mich, msu, purdue, bc amongst others bring new qb's) but there is a bunch of reasons why ND could be ranked making your post somewhat of a joke.
But please do go ahead in flaming ND for the fun of it, I know there are a few people here who enjoy that, but if you do do that please make sure that your post at least makes some form of sense, this way you just make yourself look really dumb.
