Wow hollywood you're a joke. That was extremely uncalled for by blount. Are you kidding me? Come on now you dont do that anywhere at anytime in a game, and he even did after the game was over which is when you show your respects. Blount you have immense talent but you screwed yourself in this one! Way to ******* go!

As an Oregon fan, I'm sorry for what my team left out on that field today. Between the punch and just how badly Oregon played today, it was a bad day for college football.
Now a couple of things:
In fairness to Blount, that Boise player brought it upon himself by taunting someone with their helmet off. Their coach, Chris Peterson was trying to get to him before Blount did and you could see him chewing him out after the punch. As far as charging at the fans, you could clearly see someone yelling "F*** YOU" in the crowd.
Not trying to excuse what Blount did, because he was obviously wrong to do what he did and I think he should be dumped from the team and have his scholarship revoked. But this was a man who had his psyche broken today and was provoked into acting like a madman.
Edit: Also, time to ditch the handshake idea.
Edit2: I heard that that Blount was going after a fan who dropped an "N" bomb.

In all honesty, if Byron Hout were talking **** to me after we just lost, for the second time, I probably woulda knocked him into next week too.

I know I probably wouldn't touch Blount before the 3rd or 4th round in April now after he showed his lack of maturity out there.

with blount running his mouth before the game and backing itt up with his 8 rush, -6 yards performance, including screwing up to giftwrapp a safety he deserved every bit of trashtalk he got thrown his way. if you talk it up, back it up. besides that, it was a suckerpunch

Wow...
LeGarrette Blount just seen his NFL future walk away from him. He even punched his own teammate right afterwards, what a tool!
He should be suspended for at least a two or three games, if not longer.
Granted, the Boise State player shouldn't have started it by yapping his mouth and I respect Chris Peterson for trying to stop him. I guarantee you Peterson told the player, "You deserved that for what you were doing"
Anyway, both players are ridiculous and Blount just kissed his future goodbye.

That's for real though. That guy looks like one of those dudes that deserves to get hit.

I dont blame Blount for decking him. When you just played the worst game of your life, you're already going to have a short fuse. Add in someone tapping you on the shoulder and probably taunting you then well you just snap. Going after the fans though is uncalled for unless the n bomb was dropped.

Depending on what he said, Hout was way out of line himself. If he was talking **** after tapping him on the shoulder, then that is bushleague also. This does not, however, excuse Blount's actions, but shows that Hout wasn't completely innocent.

Maybe this is the year some BCS teams wake up and seriously consider Chris Peterson for their coaching vacancies.

I think that is too harsh. Suspension? Absolutely, but being kicked off the team is too harsh IMO. (I will admit that I do not know of his history, if any, with any incidents like this).

- He did go after his teammate a bit in the total start of the film
- The guy he punched didnt even look, which made it even more sad

Brandon Meriweather was part of that infamous FIU-UM brawl and was still taken in the first round. Depends on what his past actions are (again, I admittedly do not know) and how he handles himself in interviews and such.

I don't have a horse in the race but the white boy got what he deserved. He shouldn't have been trying to rub it in and show Blount up. I'm not defending Blount and he's obviously got to show more restraint in that situation but I understand where his mind is after a tough loss. If you're Hout you shouldn't write a check with your mouth that your ass can't cash, in other words he should've expected and ducked the punch lol.

NCAA rules on fighting only address pregame and in-game situations, leading Bellotti, now Oregon’s athletic director, to tell reporters after the game that the decision on Blount would rest with the school.
|
Seeing as that is the case, I don't think he'll be suspended more than a game or two. Bellotti and Kelly are going to have to suspend him to appease the public, but they are probably going to see that he was provoked and just suspend him a game or two for lack of self control.
Just my opinion

That was kinda surreal as I dozed off in the 4th and woke up to see that chaos at the end of the game. Thanks to the awesomeness of DVR I can watch that punch over and over in slow mo.
Props to the mean green for actually playing defense. Looks like the Dodge's will really improve that program.

Sorry, but anyone who said "if someone taunted me, I'd prolly punch him too" is hilarious. What are you guys, 10 years old? Oh no, someone called me a name, the solution is to punch him, let alone punch him when his back is turned.
Unless Hout said something like, "I'm going to kill you," or tried to attack him, there's absolutely no reason to punch someone just because you're a sore loser and had a bad game. Having a bad game and losing doesn't justify punching someone because you are upset.

Hout shouldn't have talked ****...I think he should be suspended for at least one game for escalating the situation more than it had to be. At least half of the game (I don't know if he is even a starter).
Here's my verdict on Blount:
He at least needs to be suspended six games with some extra curriculars (whether it is comm. service or whatever).
However, if he is let go from the team, I wouldn't be surprised nor upset. What he did was inexcusable, he should have been able to control his emotions, especially after instigating the scenario by talking smack to the papers.

At the same time, Hout was being a poor winner. Talking **** after a game and making physical contact to do it is simply not justifiable. Blount went way over the top, and his actions are completely inexcusable. His actions, however, are not unprovoked.
If someone was taunting me and tapped me on the shoulder after a game like that, I would react in some way. I would not punch the guy in the face, but I would at least get in his face and push him, something of those sorts.

Yeah because no one ever talks smack before, during, or after the football game. You know how many time Ochocinco should have been punched by now?

Like I said, Blount should not have done what he did, but it's not like they were unprovoked, and it's not like Hout is completely innocent in all of this. A poor initial action by Hout, and a gross overreaction by Blount.

I don't know if he was running his mouth before the game or not. He just had the worst game of his life and lost a game they should have won. This is just me, but the guy could have told me, "Hey, your pants are wrinkled!" and I probably would have knocked his ass out.

He told both Boise and Oregon papers that Boise was going to get their ass kicked.

I mean it's not like Hout was just talking ****, he physically hit him along with it. I mean Hout was different with Blount, but he still was talking ****, then hit his shoulder pads. Still not going to defend Blount, but Hout instigated it all and should get some kind of suspension as well.
