I know the end result (win/loss) matters most, but it surprises me how little these polls take into consideration how well a team plays. Iowa barely beat Northern Iowa and needed two blocked field goals in order to pull off a one point win. In the coaches poll, Iowa dropped from #21 to #28. Yet, if Northern Iowa makes one of the field goals, they probably drop out of the top 50. Is one blocked field goal worth that many spots in a ranking?

I wonder if Tennessee can crack the bottom of the top 25 if we beat UCLA by a few scores.

Firstly, wake me up when BYU leads the nation in drafted players since 2002 or wins 4 big ten titles in a row. Secondly, rank OSU outside of the top 25 for all I care, whoever wins the USC/OSU game this saturday is gonna be #3 in the polls.

Wait, so number of players drafted into the NFL from 2002-2008 has an effect on how good a team is in 2009?

This post is so full of fail I don't know where to begin..

1) Leading the nation in drafted players is nice. But it doesn't win you ball games as those players are gone.

2) BYU can't win 4 big ten titles because.. well, we're not in the Big 10!

3) IMO, Ohio State is gonna get bombed on by USC.

So I guess you can stay asleep young lad

Only in Ohio logic. They have the same argument with the Browns.

I love my Buckeyes, but our fans make me laugh. I do think we'd be BYU this season, but it hs nothing to do with how many Big Ten titles we have won. Polls arn't, and shouldn't, be based on that.

put 2 and 2 together. Put BYU over Ohio State after they had a couple screw ups in a season opener against triple option navy? That happens all the time with the Bucks, but they really never lose to lousy teams, only teams that go to BCS bowls (since 2005). teams like Ohio State have more talent than BYU will accumulate in a decade. Where was BYU last year? It's not like they beat the Sam Bradford/Jermaine Gresham Oklahoma either, let alone the runner up Oklahoma. BYU was 20th before that game. They gotta do more than that to jump that high imo. They cant win big ten titles technically, duh, I mean that as an achievment not literally, but they could start by winning Mtn West titles. You really think BYU is better than Ohio State enjoy ur delusion.

they lost to undefeated utah and the tcu team that beat boise state.
they were pretty good last season already. You now claiming that osu should be ranked over byu is exactly what is wrong with the entire concept of rakings this early

First off I never said BYU should be ranked higher(Go ahead, read my posts I never said it). I just wanted to laugh and enjoy killing your argument of why OSU should be ranked higher than BYU. So basically your whole eye **** of a post here is worth diddly-squat. You love to point out the face that they didn't have Gresham or Bradford but barely mention that you guys played NAVY!!!!. NAVY for god's sake! Who the hell is on the Navy team? A Sam Bradford-less Oklahoma is a far better team than NAVY.

Just remember son, when you point the finger there's a couple pointed right back at you.

Again, what does this have to do with rankings??? Maybe you should move Jim Tressell down to recruiting coordinator because when it comes to big games.. Well we know what happens when those come around.
