Skins Sign Travis Fisher not
via Comcast Sportsnet, we sign Travis Fisher to a 1 year deal for the league min. I think this is easily our best signing so far and while he could easily be 1 and done is Washington for this year it is such a value move, many experts expected Fisher to get a long term deal 20+ mil and probably get overpaid so to get him for the min is great, he probably won't start although he could but is is very reliable and after having Kenny Wright as the main backup at CB Fisher is a welcomed addition, I really like the moves the skins have made so far in the offseason.

Not related to him for 1 second but damn TJ Duckett shows how we probably won't make a deal to trade down cause we don't give a crap about the draft and don't value picks highly. I mean a 3rd rounder for a guy who barely got any pt and they knew they loved Betts more so why make this move, thing that hurts more is because we had a bad record the Broncos got the min they could get from the trade had we won some more games they would have had our 3rd ability to switch first rounders and have a late round pick, I mean jeez.

Who would be our number on CB if Springs left? Unless we trade for somebody, Springs is our man.
But the signing was good, he can't be that much worse than Kenny Wright.

Solid signing for the Skins. Very surprised Fisher couldn't find a better opportunity. No, Travis Fisher isn't great, but he provides better depth at a position of concern last year, and there's no long term committment. Solid offseason so far ... and allows the Redskins to be more adaptive to deals out there in that they have more options.

Hopefully this is a "Deshawn Stevenson" type signing in which Fisher will be motivated and step his game up in search of a big deal next year, and if he earns it we will extend him. But that veterans min contract he is signing sure looks pretty.

I hope that somehow we can keep Springs . renegotiate or something . imagime a defensive backfield of Springs, Rodgers, Smoot as the corners. With Taylor at saftey and a half way decent free safty we could really go places. That defensive backfield would be the best in the league if Taylor cuts down on his mental errors. Fisher would then be the 4th corner on dime packages . Couple that with a decent d-lineman on draft day our defense bounces back to being one of the top 5 in the N.F.L. What does anyone think of moving Taylor to strong safety and moving Springs ( assuming he isn't let go ) to free safety?

how can u say wed be the best in the league, sprins is old and injured, smoot hasnt shown anything in the last 2 years, rogers is inconsistent as anyone...........ive heard a lot of people talk about moving springs to fs but im not in favor of that... fs has to be very athletic as he is the last line of defense and second he needs to be a very good tackler, springs is too small and old to to both

Guys don't get too excited yet, apparently he left Redskin park without signing a contract and will continue to look around it was thought that he signed but apparently he is visiting Detroit today. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a bidding war because he's not worth it.

Lions signed CB Travis Fisher to a one-year, $2.25 million contract. The deal includes a $1 million signing bonus.
Mike Martz is now recruiting defensive players? Fisher was a starter when healthy, but fell out of favor after missing 17 games the last two years. Considering Detroit's thin roster, Fisher has a chance to start in their cover 2 scheme.

I would say it's a good signing considering it's a one year deal for the league minimum. But, my problem with the Redskins is they spend gobs and gobs of money, and they don't get results.
