He is a top 10 prospect with the injury to Bradford and the poor play of McCoy and Snead. Locker and Clausen are the best QB prospects in this draft right now.

Tony Pike would like a word with you.

Tony Pike is very good and I have him at #2 even though I like Locker more (Locker will pass him by April). Pike is going to be a first round pick but something tells me that he doesn't have the stuff upstairs the way Locker does. Pike is probably more gifted physically at 6'6" with a huge arm and mobility but Locker is coming from a pro-style offense and he has all the tools himself. That is really what is the difference maker, the pro-style offense. That and Locker seems smarter and more composed than Pike.
If Pike is a first round pick right now, then Locker defiantly is. Locker has the bigger arm, mobility, and the experience playing in a pro style offense is really going to help him going forward. Just a better talent overall.
Personally, I think Pike is being a little overrated right now. The schedule he plays is UNGODLY soft. Like astonishingly so. South Florida is probably the toughest defense he'll play this entire regular season. I think you almost have to view Pike as a mid-major type quarterback. Don't think he's as physically skilled as some people think either. His arm is alright, probably a bit below NFL average, but he's more of an finesse passer than a guy who will throw it down the field. I'm not so big into arm strength as being the end all be all of a quarterbacks upside going forward, but still. He's got the frame to put on some more weight, so who knows. I don't really like his throwing motion much either. Kinda has a bit of an awkward release. This is all not even mentioning the entire mega-spread thing. All and all, I think he's more Colt Brennan than Mark Sanchez.

I also believe his arm strength is being overrated by a lot of people on here.
He made a pretty good throw deep last week against Oregon State. It was in the right place and traveled about forty yards, but it was a floaty ball. He isn't asked to throw it deep much in that offense either. Look at the Rutgers game. Entirely within fifteen yards.
As much as I like Tony Pike I don't ever see him being a first round pick. My guess is he'll settle in as a second or third rounder when all is said and done.
As far as Locker going forward goes, he has a good chance to put up some good numbers this week against Notre Dame. They've given close to 300+ passing yards to evenyone they've played outside of Nevada and Michigan, and Michigan doesn't throw the ball around much(Still gave up 240 to them). Arizona is a tougher test through the air, but they gave up give time yardage to Oregon State so who knows. But people really need to keep Locker's numbers in perspective. Even though they've improved a LOT, it's still a team that went winless last year. Doesn't have much talent around him. Hell, he's playing with a running game that averages three yards a carry.
as someone who has seen every snap, sans first half of Stanford game, I can tell you I don't see anyone else in the nation doing what he is doing week in and week out. Arguably UW should have won today (Bull 2pt conversion, and Chris Polk totally scored), which would have given him a win in South Bend, a close loss to LSU in Husky, and a win vs. USC in Husky. Now before you disregard that, consider this. His offensive line is garbage and his WRs are all True Sophomores or younger, with arguably the #2 being a True Freshman. He has a RS Fr. at RB and the TE situation is the same as the WR one. He's probably the only player on the offense who is draft eligible who would actually get drafted, with Paul Homer being the only other player who isn't complete trash. His yards are mostly all well earned, with the lack of a Golden Tate on the roster who can make plays after the catch. His biggest weakness is still his deep accuracy, but it is light years ahead of what it was his freshman season (he missed about 5 or 6 wide open go routes against Hawai'i which would have ended their BCS run). He wasn't utilized well by Ty Willingham who couldn't build an O Line if his life depended on it. Jake Locker would benefit a lot for staying another year, even though he would be a top 15 pick this season. His only other concern isn't as bad as last year, and that concern was he was reckless with the ball and he was too bulky. He dropped down from around 240 last season to around 230 or even 225, which has helped his throwing motion and agility.
oh, and if Sark can do this in basically 8 months with Locker, give him another 12 and imagine that. Oh, and imagine Nick Montana with 4-5 years of tutelage. Top pick?

I'd concur with this... Sarkisian has learned very well for Norm Chow.

I recently he watched some of his freshman season.... He has come so far as a passer and as a smart football player. He made every play with his feet that year though, which is a dimension I hadn't seen in a while, pre-Arizona game.
