Most surprising team so far?
I choose the Titans. I knew they were facing some good competition but i still didn't expect them to be 0-3 at this juncture.

Never would've thought before this season started that the 49ers would be one Brett Favre throw from 3-0.

Remember when the Broncos were having the worst offseason ever every third thread? The Lions were jealous....

Im not surprised at the Broncos going 3-0. I want to see what they do from here on out.
To me the surprise is the Steelers being 1-2. Its still way too early to be surprised at anything, bc it usually takes a good 8 games before we really start seeing who is what, but 1-2 for them is a bit surprising.
Im not surprised at the Titans, I expected them to have a down year. I also expected the Niners to be a better team this year.

Titans. Didn't think they would have such misfortune. The bengals also surprised me. They seem legit.

I'll go with Bengals because they look like a pretty good team. Broncos are prolly next but I knock them down due to the fluky win and their competition so far.

49ers for me. I thought they werent going to be as good as all my friends were telling me. They looked pretty good so far. I still think a replacement at QB will be needed soon, but right now they should be able to compete for the division

I thought the 9ers and Bengals were ready to make the next step, Broncos haven't really beaten anybody but the Bengals on that flukey play and the steelers have been without troy p, leaving my surprise team to be the Tennessee Titans, I expected a step back from 13-3 but not for them to match their loss total from last year in week three.

A down year as in losing record, or down year compared to the '08-'09 season?
I knew the Titans had a tough opening schedule, so if you told me they'd be 1-2 after three games, I wouldn't have been in total shock. 0-3 is more surprising, since I thought all 3 games were winable. And they have been, they just gotta focus on finishing and stop inflicting wounds on themselves.
My surprise team is the Jets. I didn't expect them to be 3-0 with wins at Houston, hosting New England, and hosting Tennessee, all while starting a rookie QB.

I was expecting an 8-8, 9-7 type of season.
Not necessarily bc theyre less talented than last year (theyre actually more talented this year), but I just thought they don't have enough in the pass game to remain a consistent team year in and year out. Losing Haynesworth hurts their defense a bit too, albeit that wasn't the main reason why I thought we'd see a dropoff with them.
Usually teams that live and die with their D and run game and don't have a top tier qb to provide consistent production in the passing game tend to have high and low years. They're rarely ever consistent year in and year out.
Look at the Ravens pre-Flacco as a perfect example of that.

I'll say Titans or Stillers. Or even the Bengals. They have 2 very quality wins.

I don't care who they played, I would be surprised if the Broncos were 2-1 right now, much less 3-0.

I voted 9ers b/c nobody expected their defense to play up to the level of its talent. They're playing way beyond it now, proved it vs the Vikes by keeping the best RB in the NFL out of the end zone & blocked a FG for a pick 6.
The titans were the hottest team in the NFL last season, now winless with QB problems, the Carolina of the AFC.
The Broncos only beat red hot Cincy by that freaky lucky bounce. There's still plenty of time for them to tank as predicted.

Not really. Most people predicted 2-4 wins on the season for them. They already have 3 after 3 weeks. Unless they go winless the rest of the way they will have surpassed expectations.

Steelers, they're being beat by the Bengals and Bears and they are the superbowl champions... Yeah, surprising.

I voted Denver for that reason.

People seem very fixated on the "freaky lucky bounce" that allowed Denver to beat Cinci. Denver kept the Bengals scoreless for all but the last minute, and dominated the game without being able to score a TD (which was excusable as it was their first game running the new offense). Lucky bounce or not, Denver was the better team in that contest so writing it off because of the freak play seems a bit silly IMO.
And agreeing with GB12, Denver have already surpassed many peoples expectations. They were expected to be in contention for worst team in the NFL by many, yet they have COMPLETELY dominated two other teams also in that discussion (the Browns and Raiders) in ALL facets of the game (actually many people considered the Raiders to be much better than the Broncos this year before the season started). If the Broncos just slipped by the Browns and Raiders that would be one thing, but they beat them easy .
That being said, Titans surprise me the most.

I picked the Bengals as my sleeper team this year, so Im not surprised at their success, however at the sports book, the odds of the titans winning the superbowl paid thirty to one, so i put ten bucks down on em, knowing that they were a good football team with a legitimate shot, suffice it to say that i am pretty surprised at their current record.

We dominated you all the entire first half, the second half was a draw. We were the better team that game, although not by much. We just couldn't finish when we got on your side of the field (INT, botched FG snap, missed FG).
I'm going with the Titans. I didn't think they'd be as good this year but after their battle at Pitt, I figured they would still be fine.

Nothing against the Bengals but the better teams finish that game with a W no matter what. Bengals are definitely taking that next step again though.

While I still don't feel Denver will be a playoff team when all is said in done I still have to go with them at this point in the season.
