Default The Best Conference in the NCAA

Most people seem to agree that the SEC is the best conference in football as far as talent. I'm curious to hear debate as to what conference is the second best, or if any conference is better than the SEC. Could Vandy or Kentucky beat a top Big 10 team... Big 12 team? Is the conference top loaded with that elite talent?

If you're talking about just plain talent then its the SEC barely ahead of the Big Ten followed by the ACC, Pac 10, Big 12 and Big East (in that order).

And Vandy got stomped worse by Michigan last year than they did against most of their SEC foes.

Vandy lost to Michigan, so no they can't beat a top caliber Big Ten team.

What conference is better then? The Big 12? Despite the B10's bad bowl season they still ended up with three teams in the top ten, compared to 0 from the Big 12.

1-SEC
2-Big Ten
3-ACC
4-Pac-10
5-Big 12
6-Big East
7-MAC
8-MW
9-CUSA
10-WAC
11-IND (ha)
12-MEAC
13-Patriot League
14-Sun Belt(they are that bad)

The SEC is clealy number 1. They constantly beat up on eachother but never seem to have many problems with out of conference teams.

The Big Ten is a close 2nd, but it is very dominated by Michigan/OhioSt and those are ussually the number 1 and 2 teams.

The ACC had a bad year. Easy to see that seeing as Wake Forest was the best team and Maryland was only like a game behind, but just because to teams that arent ussually the number 1 teams have the best record does that make the conference bad.

The Pac-10 proved that it was more than just the PAC-USC when UCLA beatem. Oregon st, Oregon and Cal are all good too.

The Big 12 has been going through a rough period despite Texas/Oklahoma's successes. Oklahoma hasnt had a real great year since the Jason White era.

The Big East is becoming a major conference with West Va, Rutgers and Louisville.

i can respect both lists but i think it is really hard to rank the conferences after 1.SEC...i think both overrate the Big 10 and underrated the Pac 10 and Big East

Well I think it's the Big 10. A good arguement would be Pac10 vs.the Big12.

I don't see at all how you can put the Big East ahead of the Big Ten.

I'd take Michigan, Wisconsin and OSU over Louisville, West Virginia, and Rutgers. And then I'd take any Big Ten team over the rest of the Big East.
