ESPN says Mario Manningham has the best hands in the division. Lollzzzz. Come on now, at what point can we stop sitting behind a desk chair, pulling up stats to come to conclusions, and just watching the games? Sorry Giants fans but I'm not buying it.

Best hands, Mario Manningham: He started last season No. 3 in the Giants' excellent wide receiving corps, but injuries to others meant Manningham was counted on more than New York expected. He emerged as a dependable and often electric wideout whose deep-play ability gets the attention. But Manningham's hands rank among the most reliable in the league. A Pro Football Focus study ranked him seventh in the league in lowest percentage of drops, and if you're wondering how he trains himself to be in that conversation this link here offers an example or two.

While I wouldn't say MM has the best hands in the division, looking back on it I don't really remember him dropping too many balls.
His mental gaffes comes with poor route running and problems getting both feet down in bounds more then dropping catchable balls.

yeah but how can anyone say best hands in the division when I wouldn't even say he has the best hands on his team. Best hands in the division are Jason Witten, period.

I don't think any Giants fan would really defend him as having the best hands in the division. Damix is spot on though that his hands are maybe the most consisten part of his game right now. Nicks and Smith though were more responsible for the lion share of the drops/tipped INT's than Super Mario was.

Mario doesn't have bad hands. I wouldn't say they're amazing hands, but they're not terrible hands either.
His problem is route running. He doesn't run crisp routes, and runs wrong routes at times, but I put that more on our coaching staff bc we run such a complex offense. Our offense and pass game in general could be so much more dominant if we ran a more traditional passing offense.
That's why I think when Mario eventually leaves in FA, he's going to flourish in a big way somewhere else. The guy has star talent, but he's being wasted in our choice route offense bc he's just not smart enough to run routes in this style of offense.
Put him in a WCO and the guy is going to be a beast. Even with his rounded cuts. He's got all world talent, just let him be an athlete and stop thinking and he'll thrive.

That said, Witten to me easily has the best hands in the division.

Changing my mind. Miles Austin is a better WR than Dez Bryant. Bryant has more natural born talent, but he hasn't harnessed it yet.

I think he's certainly on his way to harnassing it, as in this year. He's more than ready to be one of the best in the league, imo. But he's a walking injury. He's always getting himself banged up in some fashion. It just really sucks.

As of right now I have Nicks #2, Austin #3, Dez is #4 even though at this time he's going purely off talent and athleticism, and yeah the injury issues are tough.

Dez was looking at a monster performance before he ran into cramps and a thigh injury. He straight bitched Cro and Revis, before running into the ole injury or "hurt" bug, whatever you want to call it. I just really hope this doesnt persist, he's never at 100%. Even if it's really minor, there is always something.

He had 1 catch on Revis lets not overstate. Sure you can say he would have had 5 more catches on Revis if he were healthy but it's unlikely. Once Revis locks onto you and gets a feel for your style it's over. Dez is good but I highly doubt he would have figured out Revis.

It was the only time he was actually healthy against Revis all game. Lets just say, he made Revis look like any other ordinary CB on that reception. Dez's talent just seems to be on another level, it's kind of scary how good the guy can be. Miles Austin is a great receiver, and in comparsison...Dez's talent kind of makes you forget about Austin sometimes. It's nuts. We'll just have to see what he can do, if he can stay healthy...that's the big if, though. 3 receptions for 71 yards and a TD, in the first quarter, is pretty damn good against that duo, before running into injury. I actually do think if he was healthy, he would have just continued what he was doing...to a point, at least. I really do believe he's going to be that good. The guy is a marvel. I hate to gush, but talents dont come around like this often, imo. Not ready to say he's the best receiver in the division, until that consistency comes, but he's on his way.

Key words, but I tend to agree with the overall sentiment. It is pretty scary to think what he could be in two or three seasons, if he can stay healthy and avoid major injuries. Despite him being a Cowboy, I look forward to watching him develop. I thought he'd be a great player, and thus far, he is showing he is more than capable of that.

Quoted for truth. Although I wouldn't argue against All-Time TD-Receptions record holder Ramses Barden either.

I thought they were tied but the tie breaker is amount of miles on the bike at practice, in which Barden not only beats Holley, but is catching up on Lance Armstrong

I'm more surprised that Dez Bryant isn't given a mention in this thread and Steve Smith is.

the thread was made in november of 09 and if you read the last 20 pages or so, there's a zillion Dez Bryant mentions

Jackson and Nicks.
Dez needs more time to prove himself. He will eventually be the best, but he's not there yet.

I love how D-Unit who drove the Bryant bandwagon is trying to reverse himself on his position now. All we heard last year is how he's the best but nobody realizes it yet.

Same thing people are, and have been saying about Calvin for awhile now. We just need to get his ass off of ******* special teams, enough already. I don't know if your basing your mind off of 1 week or not, but the only thing Austin may do better is run deep routes, and that's not to slight him at all.
I need to see at least half a season before changing stuff like this too much, too much is made week to week. Dez had a run last year where he was scoring every week, let's see him get healthy and if he gets in a groove.
I do know that he's a double digit TD threat year in and out, and those guys are hard to come by. It was really annoying he bruised his quad, now we have to hear the 'what if' game on both ends. Then it also looks like Revis just shut him down when it was clear Dez was jogging through his routes for 3 full quarters.
