Thanksgiving: Packers vs. Lions
The Packers defense lost Al Harris and Aaron Kampman for the year last week. Culpepper almost lead us to defeat the Steelers earlier in the year but I don't have much hope.
I think we lose this one 24-10
Interesting stat from the Roy Williams trade (Aaron Brown as drafted with pick acquired from Dallas)
Brandon Pettigrew - 29 receptions for 334 yards and two touchdowns
Roy Williams - 24 catches for 429 yards and three touchdown

Roy just flat-out sucks. One more season like he's having this year (and last year for that matter), and I'll be waiting for the text alert saying that he has been cut by the 'Boys and has subsequently signed a one year deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
As for the game, I'm crazy bummed that the Staff Infection and Megatron will be out. I'm hoping for big games by Delmas, Levy and K. Smith. I'm also hoping that the O-line can show something against what should be a relatively pedestrian Green Bay pass rush.

41-13 for Green Bay. Without Stafford and Johnson = no offense and we already know we have no defense. Not much hope there.

Kevin Smith sure gets tackles easily, that is frustrating ... but he may be our #2 WR threat. (That's not even a joke) Pettigrew is a close #2 so Smith would be #3 b/c B Johnson & Northcutt are garbage.

I think the Lions would be well served to have a one-cut power runner to supplement Kevin Smith.
Couple of other first half observations: Levy is continuing to show that he belongs with the starting unit...he's been fast, in position and is wrapping people up. Delmas' hit on Finley (albeit illegal) will make Pack receivers think about him when they cut across the middle.
Our pass rush has been absolutely horrid again. D-line HAS to be our biggest concern heading into the draft and free agency.

To me a guy like a Toby Gerhart would be great there, not sure if they could get him the carries he needs though

Beyone those two and probably Julian P. the defense is putrid

You could probably make a case that to maximise the talent of CJ and Stafford you need to improve that O-line but the defense is also a priority.
I also dont understand why the Lions dont blitz more, they seem to have some success when they do.

Meant to say this earlier: Did anyone see Culpepper's suck attack before the game and Mayhew chewing him out? My prediction is that Culpepper gets cut within the week and the Lions bring Garcia back for the rest of the season.

i did see that. And im not sure if they would cut him but it may not be a bad idea. If he is going to sulk on the sidelines because our franchise QB was healthy enough to play then he should be gone. Thats a distraction we do not need at all. Culpepper sucks anyway. I'd be fine with cutting him and having Stanton finish the year as back up.

Culpepper is a bum. He has not been relevant in this league in 5 years. It really does not matter since he is dead man walking and won't be a Lion next year. Stanton will be the back up in 2010 (crazy he is considered the veteran now?) and they draft a rookie or bring in a probable undrafted guy like Dan Lefevour out of CMU as the Stafford understudy. Just my guess ...

Reminds me of watching Matt Forte in Chicago. He doesn't make people miss and he drops pretty easily. Then again both players are usually met by 1-2 defenders at the line of scrimmage. Offensive lines on both teams are horrible.

I'm thinking Mr. CMU will get drafted.
And regarding Culpepper, I kinda wanted to see him play in the 3rd or 4th just because Stafford was playing with an injury. Didn't want to see him get injured further in a game we weren't going to win. Didn't know about any fits on the sideline. He has been pretty quiet up til now and signed with us last year only because he wanted to start somewhere. I gotta think he is boiling deep down. That said...there is a reason only the LIons would sign him.
