Well AD has been in the league one more year, but he sucked as a receiver back then anyway. As of now they're even. The number that sticks out is the yards per catch. People put too much stock into the number of receptions. They're are a lot of running backs that can run into the flat and catch a checkdown pass, it's what you do after you catch it that matters.

Yea, That was pretty much the point I wanted to convey of comparing the career numbers just because he wasn't used as much in first two years in said role doesn't mean he can't. His rookie year he averaged 14.1 yards per catch. The man is a good reciever out of the backfield. That has just been more of Chester's role on the team over the years that AD has been here.

Obviously you cannot lose with either of these guys but I choose CJ simply because his style of running gives him a longer shelf life then AP.

Is Chris Johnson really definitivly better?
Um, AD got those numbers over 43 games, while CJ's done it over 28 games... Not sure what your point is, because once CJ plays in another 15 games, his numbers over 43 games would blow AD's out of the water.

I am worried about Adrian Peterson, his numbers are trending downwards. He doesn't seem to have the same explosiveness he had when he first came onto the scene. I would have thought his numbers would have increased with the improved passing game, but they have been mediocre sans games against the Browns, Lions and Ravens.

They've had nearly the same yards per catch average since CJ entered the league, but CJ has had more catches, yards, and TD's. You may think people put too much stock in catches, but there's a reason the QB looks a player's way to throw the ball.

Eh every year is different, as great as Adrian is he isn't always going to have better numbers than the previous year or be leading the league in rushing. Even the greats didn't always trend upwards in rushing total. Only 20 times has a RB finished with more rushing yards than AD had last year. Cosidering that only 20 guys have done it through the years, I don't think that he has lost anything because he couldn't top that total this season.

Even some of the greatest RBs of all time their numbers didn't always trend up it flucuated from year to year. Even the one RB that actually lead the league in rushing consistently Jim Brown(greatest ever IMO), his years didn't always trend upwards. Each year is just different is all there is to it.

We all thought that having Brett Favre was going to help open up the running lanes for him. But really it has been the exact opposite and even Brett mentioned it in an post game interview(they didn't ask about it either). Brett mentioned that he couldn't believe how much teams were still stacking the boxes against the run to stop AD.

Adrian is fine, he may not be having as good of a season rushing wise. However he has more TDs and is on pace for just as many Yards from scrimmage as last season(if not more). Also something that has been under the radar but he has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury since the Ravens game.

AD is a great stable runner who will make big plays, but Johnson is just on another level of explosiveness, and more versatile (IMO).

Eh wether or not it's because AD just wasn't used as much over that time period or because he wasn't as adept at recieving out the backfield at the Beggining of his career doesn't really matter. The fact is they are both pretty much equally adept at catching out of the backfield right now.

I picked Adrian Peterson, but...

Chris Johnson just breaks big runs because once two people miss a tackle on him he is gone. His breakaway speed is ridiculous. But that doesn't make him a complete back. Its later in the game which is when carrying the ball most. Adrian Peterson's nickname is ALLDAY because he never stops going. Like the energizer rabbit. AD get's better as the game dwindles, while Chris Johnson just gets worse. And I find the end of close games to be more critical than just taking the ball on a dead sprint. I like Johnson. But I like Peterson more.

This is so close, but if I had to choose I'm going with Peterson.

As stated before, Peterson gets better as the game goes on and he gets more carries. Johnson regresses.

For that reason, in a close debate, I choose Peterson.

That and if I needed 1 yard, Id choose Peterson over Johnson. Considering those 2 things, I think you go with Peterson if you had to choose.

I miss AD's explosiveness. His first two years, even though he wasn't as fast as CJ, he was still faster than 9 or 10 guys on the defense. And he would just get to that top speed so quickly. Now, he's getting caught from behind way too much for my liking, before he can even get past the second level. Cut the weight you gained, AD!

Now, he's getting caught from behind way too much for my liking, before he can even get past the second level. Cut the weight you gained, AD!
He'll probably cut the weight. Chilly didn't want him to gain it to begin with. But AD wanted to get bigger so he can get more carries. Turns out to be moot anyway bc he's getting less carries with Favre under center.

Id be surprised if he didn't cut weight this offseason.

AD let Ellerbe catch him and we had to try to break CJ's back to stop him so I went with CJ
