But the award was for defensive MVP...The most valuable player to a team. Without Woodson Green Bay doesn't sniff the playoffs. 9 INT's and 3 TD's, great those are the biggest stats. Both guys are more than worthy of the award, but how can you argue against the other 74 tackles, 4 FF, 2 sacks, and 27 PD along with those 9 INT's and 3 TD's? I don't get it.

I'm a Packer fan so just like you I'm a bit one-sided, and would be disappointed if Revis beat out Charles. Again though, both deserved, and I supposed I'm just lucky "our" guy won.

Actually it's the defensive player of the year, awarded to the most outstanding defensive player. The word valuable is never used.

Anyway, I obviously wanted Revis to win but its not big a deal, I think Harrison beating Ware last year was a bigger injustice.

Wood gives me wood. I really wish he could have started his career in Green Bay instead of wasting time with the Raiders.

Both players were deserving and it was very close in my eyes but the amount of plays that Woodson made over Revis (FFs, Sacks, and INT for TDs) was the decider for me on an unbiased level. Revis played out of his mind, though. I don't know if he can do it again next year but if he can maintain anything close to that level of play, he has a great career ahead of him.

This I don't agree with. If you have a player who blitzes as effectively as Woodson, you're better off sending him occasionally and having him make a sack that could possibly change the game. Also, Woodson forced 3 of 4 fumbles on plays down the field, while Revis didn't force any. I don't see how you can say Revis could force fumbles as well as Woodson.

Yeah I agree with Jackalope. Umm...That sounds like a bad Chuck Norris joke. Revis could have inflated his stats, but he chose not too.

Revis had a historically great season. Woodson, for me at least, was even better.

Woodson had the best season by a DPoY winner that I can recall to be honest. He pretty much did everything for that defense and his playmaking is what made it such a good defense. I also think he deserves a lot of credit for stepping up and playing even better once Al Harris and Kampman went down. He was the leader and star of one of the best defenses in the league.

Revis defined shutdown. He just dominated his individual matchups and you can't underrate the impact that has on the defense as a whole, the major difference for me was the TO stats, Woodson was shutdown and created turnovers, Revis was a bit better shutdown but didn't generate as many turnovers.

Both were fantastic though and you couldn't really go wrong on either. I'd have voted Woodson, but I could totally see the Revis vote.

Still, if the playoffs were included, I think Revis gets it and Woodson after his performance against Warner and Fitzgerald get left behind.

You realize that the only reason Woodson gets sacks (2) is because he goes in untouched? It's not like he comes in and lights up a RB to get to the QB. That **** about him being such a OMFG blitzer is so over-yapped it's ridiculous. When you have a guy that can make your best WR just another guy on the field, YOU LET HIM COVER.

He had an amazing season, but I'd rather have seen Revis win this one. I think he's a better shutdown corner.

Obviously it doesn't work like that. Ware is 10x the 3-4 OLB that James Harrison is/was and he got stiffed too.

Once again...It's NOT best DB or best CB. It's defensive player of the year. Revis was IMO far and away the best corner in the NFL this season. But overall, no player had more of an impact for his team than Charles Woodson.

9 INT + 4 FF = 13 turnovers
75 tackles
3 TDs + 150 return yards off INTs
2 sacks -T1 for DB's
and 27 PD

Stats are overrated, but how can anyone say he didn't deserve it? We all have our favorites and again, both were deserving, but some saying it was a "sham" he won is flat out ridiculous.

Can someone post Woodson's coverage stats and matchups like we've all seen Revis'? Revis could have increased his tackle numbers and FF possibilities by letting more balls get completed in front of him....what was he thinking!

http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/144970

'The Jets coach took a not-so-subtle shot at Woodson, whose Packers gave up 51 points in Sunday's overtime loss to the Cardinals last Sunday. "A number that I think is interesting would be eight, and no, that's not the amount of touchdown passes that Green Bay gave up against Arizona. That is the number of touchdown passes we gave up all season at the Jets, and the biggest reason for that is Darrelle Revis."'

Rex Ryan...he also talked about how much fun it would be to host the Ravens in the AFC Championship game. I kind of dig his ridiculous chattiness but 3 weeks ago he gave his 7-7 team up for dead before 2 teams rolled over for them, and now he has had quite a change of heart.

Revis was thrown at more...so he should have had more ints then if he is that great. I do give him he is great, just Woodson just did better. If only people threw at Namadi then it would be something.

Revis will have plenty more chances to win the award barring something terrible happening. When he does end up getting the award people will be hating on him saying it wasn't as good as the 09 year... I look at this like a lifetime achievement award for Woodson. If you haven't been watching Green Bay the last four years. You have NO IDEA what he has done for our team. He just finally had the stats in each category to catch people's attention.

But I don't think anybody knew Revis would be this good, this soon. He's got time.

At least Woodson didn't get lit up by Miami's dangerous passing attack!

Well Revis did give up more receptions. Revis gave up 41 receptions this season and Woodson gave up 39. So your argument is just a bunch of ********. Why can't Jets fans just accept the truth. Revis is the better pure cover corner but Woodson was easily the best overall corner this season.
