Default The Lions used to have some good cornerbacks :(

We now have 5 DB's in the HOF, more than any other position. Lane, Christiansen, Barney, Lary and now LeBeau.

What the hell happened :(

We haven't had a good CB in like 30 years now. And no I don't count Ray Crockett or Dre Bly as being good, they were OK, worthy of having starting jobs in the league but no one ever confused them with Deion Sanders or Rod Woodson.

Thats an impressive list of guys. As far as I can remember, I have never seen any good CB, on the Lions.

Don't piss Will James off with a thread like this. Will James is shut down lol.
He's been practicing all offseason against several turtles. Whoops the turtle just burned him for 6. Nevermind. And now Gunthers swearing in German again.

In other news, PacMan Jones is getting a try out from the Bengals. Are we that desperate for a corner? The guy had talent.

Draft ... We build through the draft boys.
Pick #34 or #66 will likely be a CB this year.

Brandon Ghee would fit the scheme well, maybe he falls to rd 3?? That would be a good start. No, I'm not crowning a rookie unnamed DB the next Lane or LeBeau, but it is not a coincidence that our defensive backfield stinks and not 1 CB on that roster was drafted by the Detroit Lion franchise!
FA's & cast-off's are not going to drastically improve a bad team or a weak position on that team. Get em cheap & hungry & young & fresh ... (ie draft em!) We do not want a tarnished vet looking to sign his last contract to retire on & come to Detroit to suck. (Buchanon!)

For the most part I agree, but in today's NFL you cannot just build a team through the draft. There just isn't enough time in a "what have you done for me lately league". Free agency is crucial in supplementing talent on an NFL roster....

I agree. The drafts have to be good, yes, but we need to use FA as well. There are only so many high picks we can hit on and only so many low picks we can hope will pan out. And with CBs, we'll need to get quite a few. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing us at least workout/tryout Pacman. What do we have to lose?

(awaiting the flames...)

Pac man jones, shouldnt be considered on a team as a player. You use the draft and pick up young talent, but if there is a young vet in free agency, you take him too. Someone should take Jones, and only allow him to play special teams. Not returning kicks or punts, just special teams.
