Well that and they aren't blinding homers like Hawk is. It is kinda fun to watch and hear the homerism cuz the White Sox never play the Cardinals or they hardly ever do, so I don't get too fired up. But I can see why it is so annoying. And watching Cubs-Cards games pretty much all the time with Kasper and Brenly, can't say its too bad on the homerism thing. Hawk says we, us, don't stop now boys, its like he is the manager, and its kind of annoying.

Why? Neither does nothing for your playoff hopes in the future and you might have to actually give up something that has value.

I think Morales could be had cheap since he isn't going to get much PT now that Hunter is back and Pujols and Trumbo main first base. I've always liked Quentin. Pirates need offense bad.

Apparently Theo Epstein is letting GM's know that all his guys are available except for Samardzija. Castro and Garza would net a nice return for them.

Wow! I have not heard this. Even though Castro would bring us some nice pieces, I would go ape **** crazy if Theo traded him. He is a great young building block for the team.

I really think the Cubs should trade Dempster and Garza. I also think they should trade LaHair because you can already see him coming back to earth so they need to sell high. Guys like Soriano, Marmol, and Soto should also be traded if the Cubs can get anything worthwhile at all for them.

These trades would get them some very nice piece to add to an already decent young corps of players in Castro, Samardzija, Brett Jackson, and Anthony Rizzo.

Please Pirates don't just get swept because you're in Milwaukee. It's not that scary, the rules are the same. Please end this horrible trend of losing in that damn city.

Wish it was Milwaukee leaving for the AL instead of Houston. Though I won't miss that stupid outfield hill either.

And I would give up anything to get a guy like Castro on the Pirates. We have no SS anywhere in the farm that I have confidence in, and he would easily come in and be our 2nd best bat right now.

But they won't trade him and the Pirates don't make good moves. O how I hate being a Pirates fan.

This may be an unsolicited opinion, but Theo is one of the most overrated general managers in baseball; he saddled the Red Sox with a number of the worst contracts in baseball (many of them indefensible even at the time) and won two titles with massive payrolls, numerous core players on both runs being added by Dan Duquette (Varitek, Manny, Pedro, etc.) Theo's decision to blow up the 2004 championship team was particularly awful, like when he tried to replace Pedro and Derek Lowe with David Wells and Matt Clement. Let me throw a few of his "genius" moves out there:

Carl Crawford ($142 million)

J.D. Drew ($70 million)

John Lackey ($85 million)

Julio Lugo ($36 million)

Daisuke Matsuzaka ($51 million and $50 million more to negotiate)

Edgar Renteria ($40 million)

I would have to say at this point he is probably one of the more overrated GMs. I still contend at one point he was an above average GM until he started to spend like the Yankees.

I wouldn't give a **** if Theo gave Chone Figgins a 10-year $285 million contract if the Cubs won a World Series.

The Brewers are hurt, not good this year, and we don't get to face Grienke or Gallardo. I think we'll win two of three.

If Alen Hanson can stay at short, he's going to be a great SS. He's crushing the ball in West Virginia.

Via Rotoworld/CBS:

Quote:
Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reports that the Red Sox have told teams that they "definitely intend to trade" Kevin Youkilis.

Youkilis is due $12 million this season, is batting just .250/.318/.406 over 96 at-bats and has also dealt with more injury issues, so we can't blame the Red Sox for shopping him when they have Will Middlebrooks ready to take over at third base. The Phillies, Indians, Diamondbacks and Reds would make sense as a potential landing spot for the veteran third baseman.

Yeah, I think everyone knows that's coming at some point down the line. I still feel like Youk can be a well above average offensive player(his May stats are pretty good, even though it's a real small sample size), but he's better suited for first base between his diminishing skills as 3rd and his injury problems. That's going to hurt his trade value quite a bit. I don't really expect an even value return, but the way Middlebrooks has been playing just makes me eager to move forward.

This Ryan Howard contract looks better by the day.

Bring in Youk please.

The best part is the Howard contract just started this year. Yikes Ruben.

Let me throw a few of his "genius" moves out there:

Carl Crawford ($142 million)

J.D. Drew ($70 million)

John Lackey ($85 million)

Julio Lugo ($36 million)

Daisuke Matsuzaka ($51 million and $50 million more to negotiate)

Edgar Renteria ($40 million)
Sigh, here we go again. The Crawford signing was understandable at the time, because he was probably worth it if he kept up the same level of production and there was no reason to believe he couldn't at the time. The JD Drew signing was fine, and I've said/proved that enough. Lackey and Lugo I'll give you. Dice-K had all the potential to be a good signing and they couldn't have predicted his arm injuries, since it looked like he had a rubber arm in Japan. And Renteria only really had one bad year without being given another chance, and netted them a couple of solid years out of Coco Crisp. The contract wasn't that bad.

Also, Pedro and Lowe wanted to move on after the 2004 World Series.
