In no way am I saying Gwynn is responsible for his own death, please don't get me wrong. It's tragic that he ended up suffering of cancer of the mouth.

But tragic stories mean nothing to the masses unless we learn something from them. And here we are and we still see young people take up smoking, chewing is still prevalent in America and we choose to clog our arteries with fried and fatty foods.

We are poisoning our own bodies, playing Russian roulette because we like the flavor or the experience. Or maybe we just aren't mature enough as a race to make sacrifices of things we find enjoyable in order to experience greater benefits in the long term.
It doesn't help that the healthy stuff is so god damn expensive. I love Naked Juice, but when I can get a 44 oz soda for 89 cents at the gas station, it's hard to fork over 3.99 for not even half the amount.

There aren't as many professional baseball players that chew anymore, I think it's lower than the 30%. When I was in High School, there were quite a few guys that did it though.

The Royals lighting up Max Scherzer. Holy crap this team is incredible right now.

Lorenzo Cain is probably the best defensive outfielder in baseball right now.

Looking at Rougden Odor's out of control follow-through, I was wondering about the most violent swings and especially follow-throughs of recent memory.

Who would you have on your list of violent swingers?

Jeromy Burnitz always looked like he was going to swing his shoulder out of socket.

Late career Giambi has a pretty out-of-control follow-through.

Who else do you have?

He'll be passing out his resume to other teams when LaRussa cans him later this year.

Looking back...what exactly is the Andrus extension accomplishing for Texas? With Odor playing well, they have a complete logjam in their middle infield AGAIN, and Andrus is making way too much for a guy who is a well below average hitter (and not Andrelton in the field).

Vlad kind of but that's because he had to reach to swing at balls outside the zone.

Why has no one (especially DG) not mentioned Stanton's Oppo HR on Monday?

Easily one of the most impressive HR I have ever seen.

For being hailed as a glovesmith, Andrus really makes a lot of boneheaded errors out there in the field.

I know some ex minor leauge players created this new pouch that is filled with coffee and other things mixed in. It is supposed to give you a similar buzz or caffeine rush.
