If only he could swing the bat at even a Juan Pierre level I wouldn't have to hate him.

The Tigers are trying to recreate the 2006 world series tonight, highlighted by pitchers that cannot field the ball.

I ******* hate the Tigers.
Why they didn't walk Thome once the count ran 2-0 is beyond me.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/19/sp...e-for-hgh.html
Rockies minor league 1B Mike Jacobs was busted for HGH, he is the 1st North American player to test positive for HGH, thus he has been suspended for 50 games.

Got off the plane and threw an inning last night. I liked the live arm, he was throwing around 93-95 with pretty good location. The Ms have turned over about half their pitching staff in about a month and so far looks like they're getting pretty good quality in return.
Next year i wouldnt be surprised to see Hutzen and Paxton in the rotation, two lefties who can throw in the mid-nineties on a regular basis.

Ryan Lavarnway promoted by way of Youk to the DL. Youk was slumping anyway, so I'm pretty excited to see what we have with Lavarnway's bat. He's put up some outstanding power numbers the past few seasons.

Yeah, Papi is hurt right now as well. Probably see him DH until he's healthy and see Lowrie play third.

It's not a good move, but it's not the disaster of a signing people are making it out to be. Frenchy has actually been alright this year and it's only two years. That said they probably should have saved the money and called up Cain.

He's not going to slug as well next year which will cause him to become a terrible offensive player again. The Royals aren't close to contention either so having the younger players get experience is way more valuable.

Who says he won't slug as well? He came close to his current SLG earlier in his career.

There is a 4 year gap between those years. I'm going to go ahead and say this is going to be an outlier.

Meh. He's only 27 years old, not impossible for him to improve. They could always trade Melky in the offseason and replace him with Cain and everything would work out fine. It's not like Franceour is blocking anyone else who is ready and KC isn't going to attract any worthwhile free agents.

But Melky is better/plays a more difficult position than Francoeur, and Cain is ready right now. They should have tried to keep Melky if choosing between the two, but FRANCOEUR IS A LEADER.

Yeah but that would be the absolute smartest thing to do and we're talking about the Royals. If I were a KC fan I'd just be happy they didn't sign Frenchy for 6 years.

I actually like the Francouer signing...just wish could have been a bit less but oh well.I think we deal Melkky+a prospect or two for a pitcher in the offseason

The Indians could actually use a guy like Cabrera in the offseason, and they have good, major league ready pitchers to spare like Zach McAllister and Jeanmar Gomez, but I doubt Cleve and KC do business like that in the offseason, not with both believing that they have a shot at the AL central next year.

The Twins have 9 position players available tonight. This team is too much sometimes.
