Rivera is the man. The only Yankee that I like.

It's nice to see there's some guys on this team still trying.
I know we like to break baseball down to a numbers game, but makeup counts for something too. There's a large portion of guys on this team who just don't give a **** right now. Lackey staring down Francona after getting ******* shelled last night was about as gutless as it gets.

Gonzalez is starting to look like a better MVP candidate again especially if he puts the team on his back for the next week or so.

I'm not even sure I want to make the playoffs. We had the entire Monster section cheer for a guy making a nice catch while we were down 2 runs in one of the most important games of the year yesterday. If not making the playoffs will somehow get rid of those people, I'm OK with it.

I still think we are gonna fall a game or two short of the playoffs. But even if thats the case, I am gonna do something I rarely do, a positive rant about one of my teams, a positive rant about Tony LaRussa, and a post showing pride in my team.
In a season that the pundints, analysts, etc. have pretty much buried us six times. Hell, I buried us in August. But so many teams when they get 10 games out pack up their **** and go home. We said no, we have not done that and played the game the right way.
There is no chance we catch the Brewers, the NL Central is all bit over. Their magic number is 3. Their lead hasn't gone under 5.5 games in the longest time. There was a time in there that it seemed like the teams above us could not lose. It was pretty much cuz they weren't losing. And that could get a team down. But we have not let down.
We're 2.5 games out of the wild card. I didn't even know we were in that race a week ago, but its down to 2.5. Sure, thats with a lot of help from the Braves' unexpected struggles. However, what this post is basically saying is touche Mr. LaRussa. To ******* che.
Yes, I still hate your micromanaging to death. U know, bringing a left handed specialist in to face any left hand whether its Prince Fielder or its Will Venable. Yes, I hate ur smug attitude at times and all. U know it seems like at times ur all uptight and ****. But I've seen him smile the last two nights. I don't see LaRussa smile often, and its ugly. I think whenever LaRussa smiles, it scares children. But it seems like lately he has relaxed so to speak.
Supporting cast, starting pitching, bullpen, they've all been great in this stretch. This is basically anyone not named Albert Pujols.
And to Albert, ur having a down season apparently. Ur not in the MVP race. U have 36 home runs, a .304 batting average, and 97 RBIs. This is a down season...smh. U are the world's greatest. Whatever happens in the offseason will happen. If u go somewhere else, I will cry myself to sleep and jack off 5 times to get over it, but I'll move on. But please man, please stay.
And even tho I think we will fall short, it would be awesome if we did. And oh yeah, we're the only NL team with a winning record against the Phillies at 6-3. I know this is regular season and we were 8-1 against the Dodgers a couple years ago, but they swept us in the NLDS. But no other NL team has a winning record. I don't care when we played them, who pitched against us. They are damn good team whenever they are out there and thats why we should be proud that we are the only winning team against them in NL. Holy ****, my beams of positivity is just scary. I need to go watch an angry porno or something.

Back to back years with out a Playoff bid isn't the end of the world... but it sure as hell would raise a ton of concerns seeing as we forked out two 100+ contracts this past year. Not to mention a 82 million dollar contract 2 seasons ago... At this point we have pitchers on the staff that I would rather just let walk at this point then ever seeing them in a Sox jersey again (Lackey, Dice-K, Bedard).
As much as I want to make the playoffs I don't know if I could stand to see us get our **** packed in in the first series.

Well, we still have Lester and Beckett going the first two games. Bedard matches up OK with someone elses 3, but we would need a lot of offense to be sure. But yeah, pitching is still a concern. We're also just flat out playing like ****. 20 errors in the month of September, many of which in key situations that led to runs.

Someone please stop me from going to kill some random guy at Real Clear Sports for making this list: http://www.realclearsports.com/lists...ching_seasons/ and having Pedro's 2000 season instead of his 1999 season and only having that ranked 7th.

The Tigers clinched the division before the Phillies, right?

That is correct sir. The Phillies were the first to clinch a playoff spot (last Wednesday), but the Tigers were the first to clinch their division (last Friday) compared to the Phillies (last Saturday against the Cardinals.)

I don't get that logo at all. And are they also changing the team colors to THAT combination!?
Sick (and not in the contemporary alternate definition way in which that word substitutes for "cool.")

Holy god damn. That's awful. Like legitimately. I could dig the Marlins going for an orange/green thing to match the Canes, but that looks like something from the 70's that people in the 70's would laugh at even.

Seriously, Derek Lowe? Giving up a home run to some made up person named Brett Hayes?
