On another note, the Cards really won't be any worse next year without Pujols. Shifting Berkman to first, getting Wainwright back, a full season of Freese...

Dont care what you say, Id take Pujols 10 times out of 10 over Votto right now. Not that Votto isnt amazing and all, but id much rather face him 20 games a year than Pujols.

I don't see why not. Berkman was the better hitter this year, and Pujols is probably actually 33 so...

That's fine, but it doesn't make Pujols better.

Pujols is leaving because he hates the Astros. We can never get away from him.

I agree with that Comahan said, but assuming Berkman replicates last year, sure he can replace Pujols at 1B. Then who is replacing Berkman in RF. No way the Cardinals are as good without him right now.

Jon Jay rapes lefties, and they could bring in Carlos Beltran or something to hit righties. Again, full season of Freese, return of Wainwright, and still having Holliday and Berkman at his best position.

They lost Jose Bautista? Oh yeah, and the Mariners lost A-Rod who was the best non Barry Bonds player in baseball in 2000, and won 116 games in 2001.

Are the Cards adding an Ichiro typle player? Maybe they'll spend money on Darvish.

Cardinals COULD absolutely still win the division. IF David Freese and Allen Craig's postseason performances weren't just a one time thing. The Cardinals WILL be better in the long run.

I still don't think many people know about Allen Craig. He had knee surgery this offseason and is questionable for opening day, but even if he misses the first month of the season, I still expect him to hit somewhere between 25-30 home runs.

Do you really see that happening with this CArds team? They have Holliday as their one premiere bat...with nice players like Freese and maybe Jay surrounding them

that Mariners team had Boone putting up a ridiculous steroid filled season, Ichiro hitting .350 and a CFer in Mike Cameron who put up 25 HR and 30+ SB's. That's just sexy

what really helped them was that they brought in Boone who pretty much gave them A-rod numbers. I don't see that happening with the Cards

Cards are still the favorite, but the Reds are likely their main competitor. Cubs haven't done anything yet this offseason, but I still don't see them competing this year

Brewers have a great trio in Greinke, Marcum and Gallardo. They still have Braun but the loss of Fielder is going to hurt them big time. Right now I give the edge to the Cards

So don't know if this is true but I heard....

25 million in Anaheim = 16 million in St. Louis.

This. Votto has like one infield fly the last three years. He doesn't pop up, so his BABIP is obviously going to be considerably higher than the average.

Also, I am going to cry when Votto does this to the Reds in two years.

Alex Gonzalez just signed with the Brewers. That's going to be an underrated signing. great upgrade over Yuni.

Angels will regret this contract by the end of Year 3. Albert will produce, but no where near a 25 million dollar level.

Miguel Cabrera's contract now looks like a steal. 100 million dollars and 2 years less signed when he was 5 years younger for basically the same production.

I'm glad he's gone.

Umm... Cabrera is going to be up for this same deal in a few years. Albert Pujols already had his "Cabrera" deal ($100m/7) that he signed in 2004.
