I wish the article counted players drafted, but traded and playing in the majors on another team.

I'd be interested in that as well just to see which teams are good at identifying talent in the draft regardless if that player ends up with another organization.

I think it would be even more productive to then take into consideration the WAR produced by those players traded for prospects--to see if the team was able to get value in return for the players they "identified" in the draft.

It shouldn't be to difficult to do just very time consuming.

500K ... now is that for the season? or for the 112 games he's eligible to play?
As in, will his pay be prorated down from 500K to 300Kish for the games he'll actually play in?

For $500,000 it's almost a good investment just to keep him away from other teams.

I heard he did it on a dare.

Which also makes Raul Ibanez getting a third year in his contract, the Ryan Howard extension and Danys Baez's existence make sense.

That doesnt mean Beane can't try to make the A's more exciting to watch. Baseball is a spectator sport you know.

If he didn't have to sit out 50 games, I would agree. Your season could very well be over by June 1 or whenever around then he is eligible for return.

Which is right when the A's would need a boost in tickets. Employing one of the best right handed hitters of our generation just might give a little boost to those ticket sales when they would normally start to fall.

It would work similarly to Charlie O Finley trotting out the donkey back in the 70s.

I guess I just think the opposite. You guys could use a little boost anytime of the season. I think any attraction Manny might be bring would be stronger when every team is in first place and "has a chance". If the A's are 18-32 and 8-10 games out of first place, why would anyone go see Manny at that point?

Well regardless of their record, there will still be some speculation on it. People will probably buy tickets in advance.

But if Manny looks like ****, I got to wonder how long it lasts. Demographics could play a role in it too, if they market Manny well enough, you could get a Hispanic influence to come to the game.

The Broncos season tickets blew up when the Duggars ordered their tix for Tebowmania.

Yes and no. I think they are still young enough. Matsui was #1 or #2 one year. That was stupid.

Predictions on 25 man roster. I think we did this a month ago but my teams picture became a bit clearer so I wanna get this down so I can come back to it.

Lineup
1. Derek Jeter SS
2. Curtis Granderson CF
3. Mark Teixeira 1B
4. Alex Rodriguez 3B
5. Robinson Cano 2B
6. Nick Swisher RF
7. Raul Ibanez DH
8. Russell Martin C
9. Brett Gardner LF

Bench
Francisco Cervelli C
Eric Chavez 3B/1B
Eduardo Nunez UTIL
Andruw Jones OF

Starters
CC Sabathia
Hiroki Kuroda
Ivan Nova
Phil Hughes
Michael Pineda

Bullpen
Mariano Rivera
David Robertson
Rafael Soriano
Boone Logan
Cory Wade
Freddy Garcia
George Kontos

DL
Joba Chamberlain

The roster is pretty easy to predit actually with the two recent signings. The only spots open like usual are the last 1 or 2 spots in the bullpen. Unless an injury occurs somewhere and opens something up.
