Yeah that's why they did but it's still dumb. It's going to suck going hom down 2-0.

I'll bet big money that the Beltran for Zack Wheeler trade turns into a lopsided deal heavily in favor of the Mets. Giants got basically like....3 weeks worth of Beltran before he got hurt, then he leaves as a FA. Wheeler is one of the top prospects in the game and has front line starter stuff. Dumb deal

Sources are reporting Kerry Wood will retire after his next appearance, which could be today.

Well, yeah, anytime you trade your top pitching prospect for a pure rental player whose contract forbids you from offering arbitration and getting draft pick compensation, your going to be getting the worst end of the deal in the longterm if you don't win the WS. That deal was purely to continue to pack the house since the team was "printing money" coming off winning the WS. That's how the Giants roll.
As of now, that's the worst deal he's ever made. Worse than the Nathan deal.

Haha. So true. Alderson was just lucky to be the guy holding the rights to the player Sabean lusted after.

Fitting end for a great Chicago Cub.

Really would have loved to see Wood and Prior stay healthy throughout their careers. Were a dominant young duo.

I really don't understand how Dusty Baker is allowed around young pitchers. Or pitchers in general, for that matter.

You act like you're surprised. I wouldn't pitch to McCutchen if I were a pitcher. No one else in that lineup can hit.

Catherine Tate is a better and more productive branch manager than Steve Carrell.

His walks have been pretty high this year, but so have all the Red Sox starters. He's a young, inexperienced starting pitcher with an 100 mph fastball and a big breaking ball so you see where it comes from, not that that makes it excusable. He'll iron it out eventually.

Hey we're losing 14-1 with one of their best hitters out. It's not much better for me.

As a Pirate fan, this is the worst game since the streak. Yes, I'd put this over the 20-0 game against the Brewers a few years ago. The Pirates offense is historically bad. Even a little bit of help with the bats would have us in first place.
