I also think Sean McDermott is a mediocre at best defensive coordinator in the NFL.
Donnie Mac's good for 9-10 wins with that team. Just sayin'.

How long did it take Elway to win his ring? Wasn't he 37? I don't remember Dolphins fans wanting to get rid of Marino...or talking about trading him. I'm pretty sure San Diego fans didn't want to get rid of Fouts...or Houston didn't want to get rid of Moon (except the owner of course).

Question for everyone who says McNabb is a great quarterback and Philly would be foolish to trade him away:

Why is it that none of you would be willing to part with a first round pick for Mcnabb if he's that good? Everyone's saying "well, trade a 2nd round pick for McNabb, or trade Player X + a 3rd round pick for Mcnabb.."

While there is no salary cap, every NFL team has a budget. The addition of McNabb would cost $11-something million this season. If a team trades for him, they will have to give him an expensive multi-year contract. A team isnt going to make a deal for McNabb unless they can guarantee themselves he'll be around more than a single season. Not to mention, some teams dont want to give up those draft picks on a guy in his mid-30s.

Also, why would a team pay a large contract this year when there's a chance there won't be a season next year?

He's 34 and has a horrible injury history.

Exactly. Also, McNabb is probably in the 8-12 range for NFL QBs. He's very good, but nobody is gonna mistake him for Peyton or Brees. So right there is a chunk of teams, mostly good teams from last year, who already have a QB who is as good or at the very least comparable to McNabb, and when you trade a 1st rounder for a QB you want to make sure you're making a very considerable improvement at the position. Even more teams have QBs of the future, young guys who they aren't gonna give up on yet. That shrinks the number of teams who would want him down considerably. For the bad teams with no future direction at QB, like the Raiders, Browns, Broncos, etc. their pick is a little high to be giving up for a guy in his mid 30s. If he were in his mid-late 20s, more bad teams would be willing to trade their first for him, but as it stands a team needs to have a win now philosophy to want McNabb.

So I think Minnesota is a possibility, but Favre hasn't made a decision yet, and they're gonna wait for that. Washington is a possibility, but the Eagles won't trade him within the division.

Either way, if I was assured that McNabb would stick around for more than a year and my team had a mid-late 1st round pick, I wouldn't mind trading it. That said, if I can get him for less I would undoubtedly prefer that.

Yes, but it's hard to draw a line between him getting older and being more of a injury risk when he's missed less games recently. I'm just not sure his injury history is "horrible". He's never missed a whole season and started less than 10 games only once since his rookie year.
