What make McDaniels a quarterback guru, outside of the fact that he inherited an already great Tom Brady?

Brady Quinn will be groomed to be the starter for the future. Not this season, but has a great chance of starting next year.
Maybe he can turn his game around with better coaching?
Should be interesting to see how much time he gets this year

The problem with Brady Quinn is, was, and probably always will be that he isn't a quarterback, he's a passer. Put him in a 7 on 7 drill and he looks great. Play touch football and he's fantastic. But put him in an NFL game against a legitimate NFL defense and he will go nowhere. I could see these problems coming from college, and apparently so could NFL scouts. It's really funny anyone thought the Browns walked away with two top 5 prospects in that draft, if BQ was that good, someone would have taken him in the teens. A lot of teams there had solid veterans but they weren't franchise QBs, and you take the allegedly spectacular value if it's there in a position of relative need.

It was obvious that as soon as he wasn't playing service academies and his protection broke down, he faltered. His accuracy broke down and he made bad decisions with the football. Apologists said it was because he had no time, but welcome to the NFL, where defenses are in a QBs face all the time.

He hasn't shaken that and he probably never will.

Njx: you're right, solid was probably too much of a word. But he's definitely better than maybe the worst backup last year. Chris Simms says hi!

And even though he sucks and most likely will for the rest of his life, there's always that tiny chance that he somehow turns it around. And for the price we paid, I'd say that's pretty much worth it. If nothing happens with him, it's pretty much a lateral move.

Quinn is essentially the younger, better, more interested in men Kyle Orton without a beard so I don't see how it hurts that much getting him for essentially nothing. The Browns seem to be trading things to trade things. I guess it's nice though since then they're not really tied to any player and they can completely blow everything up. It kind of shows to me though that this is going to be major rebuilding and Mangini is definitely gone once they find their point man.

But anyway, I like the trade for the Broncos even if Quinn is terrible. At least he'll be going into an offense more similar to what he ran in college.

Great move. Even if he's only accurate on short balls, that's all Orton can really do too. Why not give the kid a shot with some real weapons around him.

brady quinn could be a great quarterback if the position didn't require you to throw the ball

I cant believe this trade honestly.

I'm a fan of Hillis' but in no way would i have thought the Broncos would be able to trade Hillis and 2 late round picks for a former 1st round pick in QB Brady Quinn. The Browns must really have plans for Hillis because they should have been able to get a 3rd or 4th round pick for Quinn from another team and to take Hillis and 2 late round picks for him speaks to their thinking of Hillis' talents.

I guess Hillis is going to replace Jamal Lewis as the teams power back. With Harrison getting the bulk of the carries and Hillis getting the short yardage and goal line carries the Browns could have a very good running game. They have a very good FB in Vickers so it does look like Hillis is being brought in as a RB.

Quinn needed a fresh start. The guy didnt really get a chance to succeed with the Browns (what QB has?) and this gives him the fresh start he needed. He will battle Kyle Orton for the starting job which should be interesting and if he wins he could actually become a good starting QB in the NFL and remove that Bust label from beside his name.

He won't win the starting job. Kyle Orton is much better than him. And Orton is less than 2 years older than Quinn. Hardly a big difference.

I haven't seen anywhere that the 2012 pick is necessarily a late round one. All I've seen is the word conditional applied to it, which leads me to believe that if Quinn does shape up in Denver that '12 pick could turn into something more befitting a fair trade.

Wrong. Hillis himself is worth a late 2nd rounder.

In what world? Maybe in Madden but not in the real world. The guy was a bench warmer last season that did absolutely nothing. Yes the season before last he did very well and averaged 5.0 YPC but when McD came in he was used as a returner and then he fumbled once and that was taken away and then he was used primarily as a FB. In truth he is not a good FB at all. He doesn't block well as a FB. He can catch the ball from that position but blocking is a weakness of his and that's why Larsen started over him. Hillis is better utilized as a RB but in no way is he even worth more than a 5th or 6th round pick after doing nothing last season. Again im a fan of Hillis and im saying this.

LMAO. Hillis worth a 2nd rounder? Even if he WAS one of the best fullbacks in the league, a fullback is in no way, shape or form going to garner a 2nd round pick.

Quinn will beat out Orton during training camp. Orton fell apart towards the end of the year, all he did was go to BMarsh every single play (and every pass was within 10 yds). I want to see Royal get back in the mix.

This.

There is not a FB in the NFL I would even think about giving up a 2nd round pick for.

He will battle Kyle Orton for the starting job which should be interesting and if he wins he could actually become a good starting QB in the NFL and remove that Bust label from beside his name.
seriously? the guy couldn't beat our Derek Anderson and is a dink and dunk passer who completes 50% of his passes without attempting a pass more than 10 yards downfield. His value around the league has diminished and the fears teams had before the 2007 draft that Quinn wasn't accurate enough to succeed in the NFL have come true in bunches so far. At the end of the day getting Hillis and two draft picks for a guy who might not ever be even a decent backup QB is much more likely to be a steal for the Browns than the Broncos.

It's because Hillis is not a FB, never was and never will be.

His position is RB.

Then he's really just a pretty good RB, and pretty good RBs are not worth 2nd round picks.
