These players loved playing for them and wanted to play for them again. Martz's offense is perfect for fast receivers (McDonald already knows the offense) and Marinelli is running the Cover 2 (which White is perfect for). Duckett, from what I know, didn't play for either.
And, Fisher was a cheap FA that ran the Cover 2 in the days of Lovie Smith in St Louis. In 2002 and 2003, he played 29 total games and accumulated 121 total tackles and 6 interceptions (2 for TDs). He got injured in one of the following seasons, but played quite a bit and has experience in the Cover 2.
In other words, each pick seems to be perfect.

so with Fisher at CB, and White at DE, and Mcdonald at WR, Duckett/bell at RB, what are our updated team needs?
still another DE? another CB?
MLB I know. what else is a must have?

Safety, since Kennedy bites
DBack, since Bryant is overpaid and overrated
D-End, since we have a hole there with Redding moved to DT
QB, since Kitna is no spring chicken
TE, since... who the hell do we have playing there?

Kitna may not be a "spring chicken", but he's certinally not a "winter duck". Come on now, Addict.
(Disclaimer: I have no clue what a "winter duck" OR a "spring chicken" is.)
We've got Campbell at TE... and he had a great year. We've also got Fitz, but I'd like us to grab one in the 5th round.
I agree with the rest.

MLB
OT- Foster isnt that great and Backus is overrated
if we can fix up all that which isn't too likley, we would have a good team.

In reality I do not think that the Lions filled any bona fide starter roles this off season. Very few of the players that the Lions picked up where targets of other teams and that should probably say something. I agree that most add good depth, but would White start on any other team in the league? So in my mind every problem we had before FA started other then Oline and Rb (so anything not involved in the Broncos trade) are still viable needs to fill in the draft.
Secondary is probably the most pressing need for the Lions right now, as it has been since forever. It looks like we may end up with out a super star pass rushing d end in this draft, so we need so more big physical D backs to help cover the lack of a solid pass rush. In my mind its easier to come in and make an impact in the secondary then on the dline. The adjustments in competition would be easier in the cover two for a cb then for a de.

I disagree... a lot. First of all, White is a great player but was stuck behind two great DEs in Tampa. Fisher played CB in the Cover 2 in St Louis... and McDonald played for Martz (in his offense) in St Louis. If we would've signed Curtis, you'd probably say that he was our only "good" signing... but why pay Curtis-money when you can save money on McDonald? He's got more speed than Furrey, and we all saw what HE did last year.
I think DE and MLB are bigger needs than secondary... because the Cover 2 NEEDS a pass rush and NEEDS a playmaker in the middle to work. You can usually get away with average CBs in the Cover 2... and Fisher, Bryant and Wilson (and, hopefully, a rookie) gives us solid depth. If we can add a pass-rushing DE and a quick, playmaking MLB in the draft, we'll be in good shape.
I just think you're too caught up in the names and not in the player. I'd rather have Marinelli-guys on defense... and Martz-guys on offense... than a few overpaid, big names without a work ethic and the desire to work hard... to succeed.
Might just be me.

i wouldnt be shocked to see white put up double digit sacks this year especialyl with the DTs we have i think Marinelli knows what he can do and that why he's the only guy we kinda over paid for

I actually think Fernando Bryant is underrated now. I really did hate him for a long damn time.. but he surprised me at the beginning of the year, when he was healthy. That's the key word.. he's almost never healthy.. but when he is, he's a very good fit for the Cover 2.

excellent Tactica, I agree with it all
I think MLB and DE should be our first 2 picks, and if we could somehow get them both in the first round, i would love it. if not I would be uber happy with
1st-Willis-MLB
2nd-Abimiri-DE
3rd - CB bpa
4th - te/qb/cb bpa
5th (all 4 picks) - see 4th round
