How are the Giants the worst? What are you guys, 5 year olds wanting to see zoo animals painted on helmets, running around the field?
I bet if you had to poll the actual people playing the game, they'd prefer putting on that "NY" over many.

But the thing you're not getting, is that the horns on the vikings helmets are not "logos" per se, They are simply the horns that vikings have on their helmets, and not the "minnesota vikings" But the Vikings that hailed from norway. Get it now?

Are you really mocking people's opinions on art?
Besides, the thread title isn't "What the players think are the best and worst team logos".

While obviously opinions will vary on logos etc, I actually think there is a factual side to judging logo design.
First and foremost, this is the NFL - a super rich sports league and every team paid a lot for their logos to be developed. It's hard to say any are terrible. They all do their job.
Secondly, a good logo is *always* simple. Always. Rule #1 of logo design.
Another fact I think we can all agree on is a good logo has to be unique and iconic. It is true that an logo can't become iconic on its own, you need history achieved over time to do that, but a logo has to be able to accomodate it by being unique, easy to reproduce and easy to identify.
For example, the Dallas Star is iconic. You can't mistake that for anything else really. The Colts logo is not quite as iconic, but a richer team history and it easily would be. The Raiders logo is iconic, the Packers logo is iconic, and the Oilers logo would be in the same class if it was still in use. There are plenty more - basically all the logos which feature a shape or pattern you won't find in the other logos. With a few more decades of use, logos like the Titans T, Texans, Pats post 93, Chargers bolt could be similar.
On the other hand, some logos aren't overly iconic despite the history behind it, and some newer logos aren't overly icon-friendly. The Vikings don't really have an iconic logo, IMO, despite a lengthy history. Logos based on animals aren't icon friendly, like the Jags, Panthers, Ravens, Rams etc. They're just not on the same level of uniqueness as original designs not based on real world things like animals. Of course NFL fans will always be able to instantly identify these logos, but a depection of a large cat or a bird just isn't ever going to achieve the same status as a truely unique symbol. The only exceptions may possible be the more surreal animal logos (Falcons, Seahawks), and the Dolphins, as it is a bit more quirky than the average animal logo.

What's wrong with the Purdue Boilermakers? I'm surprised the steel company they got their logo from didn't come after them though. Maybe that company sponsored the team early on?

I don't really understand this comment. How exactly is Colts history lacking? Granted, the Bob Irsay years were lean, but the Carroll Rosenbloom and Jim Irsay years more than make up for it.
Oh and to answer the OP, the Browns logo, or lack thereof. Their logo is their helmet.

The Colts history isn't lacking at all. They're one of the original NFL franchises - and a major building block of the league at that.
Not only that, but they had Johnny Unitas. The best QB to ever play. How that's not history, I have no idea.

NO WAY! it's because Unitas isn't Brett Favre or Tom Brady, duh.
everyone knows Favre>>>Unitas. like, Favre has the most TD's ever and is the most recent bestest QB evar. come on yfs, you should know that.

I guess they didn't mind the free advertising?
Also, I liked this Purdue logo:
shame they stopped using it.

Child please. ;) Everyone knows that Unitas isn't even the best QB in the history of the Colts, let alone the league. Peyton Manning is the best player to ever play quarterback in the history of football.

obviously. there's no such thing as history. the NFL started when Brett Favre joined. Granted, that was like 1980, but still.
Actually, Unitas is probably the 3rd or 4th best Colts QB.
Sorgi, Manning, Lorenzen and then maybe Unitas. hell, Curtis Painter might beat him out. Unitas=5th best Colts QB in history

The NFL is lucky Roger Goodell banned the Colts from being able to start Sorgi. It would have completely upset the competitive balance of the league forever.

Well, Eli is only one play away from losing his starting job to The Sorgi this year.

one play? the entire locker room is behind Sorg' in this, the quarterback competition isn't even a competition. Coughlin will throw the babyface on the bench.

It's not really their logo, but I think the Rams' helmets are ******* awesome. I'm not fond of the navy/gold color scheme they've had going on since the early 2000s, but the old school blue/white and blue/yellow were the ****.
BAD ASS.
Oh yeah....Eric Dickerson is the best and most productive runningback of all-time.

I like that logo too, wish they'd use it more than they do. I don't really know why the big gold P got so popular.
