Cnnsi over CBS. Any org featuring doyel and dodd and Freeman needs it's management fired.

Houston officially invited to Big East. Sounds like they will be accepting.

Apparently ND is chairing the expansion committee for the Big East. These fools in Providence need to go already.

The ACC took the wrong team.
Quote:
Syracuse coach Doug Marrone can make all the claims he wants about the Orange being New York City's football team, but the facts simply aren't there to support that contention.
The latest TV ratings from Friday night's two Big East football games show the Rutgers-Louisville game on ESPN2 having more than twice the viewers in New York City than the Syracuse-West Virginia game on ESPN, a meeting that featured a ranked team (the Mountaineers). Both games started at 8.
Rutgers-Louisville drew a 1.45 share in New York City compared to 0.7 for West Virginia-Syracuse, according to the Nielsen ratings released today.
That rating tied for fourth all-time on ESPN2 for a football game viewed in the New York City area. Rutgers has been involved in all five of the top-rated football games in New York City on ESPN2.
Rutgers has also been part of four of the five highest-rated football games in the New York City area on ESPN.
That list is headed by Rutgers-Louisville in 2006, which drew an 8.1 rating, and includes Rutgers-West Virginia in 2006 (6.04); USC-Ohio State in 2009 (3.74); Rutgers-Cincinnati in 2006 (3.62) and South Florida Rutgers in 2007 (3.35).
Syracuse is not in the top 10 of ESPN's list of the most-viewed college football games in New York City.

The Big XII needs someone to replace Mizzou.
Boise State needs to get into an AQ conference.
The Big XII is an AQ conference.
Boise State is someone.
Damn, it's not rocket science. Invite them already.

Boise State makes no money and is in the middle of nowhere.

Just look at the size of their stadium and fan base an wonder why they arnt getting invited anywhere. No academics, no real lasting fan base, no stadium bigger than Texas high schools, no invite.
And as to Syracuse or Rutgers, I'd rather have cuse in the ACC. Mostly because of basketball and history, and the fact that I don't get any money from tv ratings so they don't matter to me.

Boise State is ok academically. Not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. It's not good, don't get me wrong, but it's not horrible like a lot of big12 schools.

Boise is ranked 100 points behind the worst ranked Big 12 school (Iowa State) with a 614 national ranking according to Forbes.
I know, one ranking isn't everything, but they are ranked worse than Big 12 schools academically.

Boise State is much worse when it comes to graduate research, which, as I've said many times before, is all presidents and chancellors really care about.
You'd be shocked to discover how little thought is actually given to undergraduate education at major universities.

Plus I believe Boise State has a 4 year grad rate of about 7%.

Holy crap that's pathetic.
I wasn't paying attention to grad programs, bf51. I know that they are basically a commuter school/community college but had no idea that it was ranked that far behind the worst big12 school.
I had just read briefly that they were a rapidly improving academic school.
Apologies for being incorrect as I in no way want to defend BSU.
Fwiw I went to CWRU so I value grad programs :)

BTW, West Virginia will be replacing Missouri in the Big 12.

It's a nice move for WVU. But they're really getting away from all their rivalries in the ACC. As long as they still play Pitt and Maryland every year it should be a good move for them.

Nice move by the Big 12 to get WVU. Holgersen's offense belongs in the Big 12. I would argue they are an upgrade to Missouri if/when they move to the SEC.

That's going to be a logistical nightmare for West Virginia. They'll have to fly all of their teams to every conference game, and I doubt Morgantown has direct flights to Ames, Manhatten, Lawrence, Waco, etc.
Ugh.....I hope they planned this out.

If the Big 12 wants to go back to 12, I think they almost have to go with Louisville and Cincinnati just to bridge the weird arc that's now created between West Virginia and Texas. I'm not all that bullish about either program as great additions (fine athletics but in terms of eyeballs they're basically relegated to their metro areas, particularly Cincy). Rutgers and Connecticut (or even USF and BYU) would be better additions in a vacuum, but we're not in a vacuum.

Honestly I'm now pretty scared and I'm starting to think we're going to get left behind in all of this. I don't even want to think or Rutgers football going back into the Dark Ages because we couldn't join a major conference.

That's going to continue to suck for Pitt.
