Tiny write up on ACC OOC Schedule
2010 ACC Out Of Conference Games that I will watch.. lol Bold is who I think wins.
Virginia Tech Hokies .vs. Boise State Broncos
Tech had a big stage game last year against the National Champions, Bama, this year they take a step down. Boise who arguably should have been in the BCS game finally, had a great year once again and beat TCU in the Fiesta Bowl in a defensive stand off. Tech doesn’t lose a whole lot, Render and Wang on the line and some defensive players. There identity will be the same and it is running the ball. Ryan Williams is an upcoming superstar I think and is only a sophomore coming into this season, along with Tyrod there offensive will be driven mostly by the run game. On the other hand Boise returns one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in Kellen Moore who is known for his TD/INT ratio. The Broncos understand how to win and are usually always a much disciplined team when it comes down to it. The Broncos will also returnt most of there starters which could be a problem for the Hokie defense. Majority of the crowd in Landover will be for Tech but it could turn out to be a really good game. I think I might go to this game.
Miami @ Ohio State
Jacory Harris had a pretty good year last year as a sophmore and in his junior year he will have to travel to The Horseshoe to face off against a Heisman candidate in Terrelle Pryor. This game is going to come down to defense, we know the U has athletic players all over the place but Tressel will be ready for an ACC team no doubt about it. Cameron Heyward could have a massive day considering Jacory isn’t the best at scrambling and the line lost a kid in Jason Fox who was probably there best linemen last year. Not sure Miami will be ready for this game unless Harris steps up big time.
North Carolina .vs. LSU (Georgia Dome)
Les Miles will have his troops ready for this defensive matchup as he has for the past 5 years. Tons of talents on the Tigers roster with guys like Peterson, Sheppard, Jordan Jefferson, Tolliver, Randle etc. The Heels can not recruit with LSU but fortunately for them the defense last year was top 15-20 all year and everybody is back with potentially 3 first round prospects. The offense is the question for UNC and it falls on TJ Yates. He scares me sometimes with his forcing the ball type of mentality, sure it has worked sometimes with Greg Little but we don’t have guys like Jones, Green, and Baldwin where you can do that. The o line is expected to play well but LSU has the DL to penetrate the line, just as we do on that side of the ball. The Tigers lost Keiland Williams, Charles Scott and Trindon Holliday so they will have an inexperienced backfield which could force Jefferson to beat us through the air. As for the Heels backfield, Shaun Droughn and Ryan Houston have been carrying the load for 2 years and should be able to get somewhat of a ground game going.
