He's not better than Gronkowski.

Ugh. Another unsexy FB competition. I should have saw it coming, with the way we always look at FBs. But aside from getting Romo killed, Gronk actually showed a lot of promise last year. And Phillips is bound to line up back there, when he's fully recovered.

We'll see how it ends up...but I like Gronkowski better.

Fun fact, he's coming off of ankle surgery.

Hmmm... is there such thing as a "sexy FB competition"? LOL. Gronk sucks. He's just a guy. No clue what Chapas is, but at least I've heard of him before. lol.

FB is just an unsexy position...sleep inducing even. Unless you have a stud, neither one of these guys is stud, but I like Gronk's potential more. lol. Should have drafted the Terminator, John Conner, when we had the chance. I think we both wanted him bad last year. I know I did.

Look at us talking bout FBs...ugh.

Yeah... Connor. :(

I mean... FB was the pick, but it certainly wasn't my choice. Nor was he the player I wanted at that position. I like Havili and Hynoski.... For different reasons. Havili is more of a weapon, but we'd probably get more use out of him. Hynoski because he's a nasty blocker. But Chapas is who we got...so it is what it is. Now the Eagles just took Havili and I think we're gonna see him have a much bigger impact against us than Chapas will have against them when we face each other.

He's a Wisconsin lineman so that's a plus in itself.

His coach was actually on the panel just now on NFLN. Said he had to miss a year because of a scooter accident. lol.

The little tidbit I found said he'd wowed at the pro day. "Stole the show" displaying impressive burst and turning heads with his leaping ability.

_____

Part-time starter the past three years primarily at guard while also lining up as a blocking tight end during his senior season.

Positives: "Explosive small-area blocker with limited upside. Stays square, plays with good pad level, and is strong at the point. Fires off the snap and seals defenders from the action. Keeps his head on a swivel and works hard."

Negatives: Ineffective in motion and very stiff. Lacks a dominant base and struggles finishing blocks.

Analysis: Nagy was a solid college lineman at Wisconsin but is a marginal athlete with limitations. Can be kept on the roster as an eight offensive lineman or as someone placed on the field at tight end in short-yardage situations.

Projection: FA

Kind of odd mix...scouting report says marginal athlete...but apparently he killed it at his pro day, showcasing his athleticism. So we'll just have to wait and see.

So my post draft comments, like anyone really cares..

I'm a bit dissapointed we didn't take a D-lineman anywhere in the draft, I feel like that was one area last year that really struggled. We didn't didn't create much pressure from there and struggled against the run as well.

I'm also a bit more confident in acquiring Michael Huff in FA seeing that we didn't even address our safety position. There is no way that we can run Alan Ball out there again at FS and think all is well.

Bruce Carter is obviously a high risk/high reward pick for the future. I'm not sure of the extend of his injury, but I will assume he will not have much impact of the field this next year.

I only see Tyron Smith and Demarco Murray being able to come in and make a difference next year, anything from any of the day 3 guys will probably come from special teams. David Arkin is the only other player I see having a chance to get on the field, and that would most likely be in an injury situation. I'm not thrilled about this draft, but if Tyron Smith develops into our long term LT and Bruce Carter takes over at ILB an a couple of years, I would call it a success.

(Having seen the outcome a previous drafts of ours, I have a pretty low bar set for the Cowboys)

Stephen's comments in the paper this morning were very direct about FA. Looks like they are going to be very active.

I think we go hard after Huff.

Wonder what we do at DT. I wonder if we try to resign spears?

I think we addressed our OL issues nicely in the draft. We have our potential fix at RT(or maybe Smith gets moved to LT and Free goes to RT) and a potential starter at G in Arkin. The fact we only drafted one DB was concerning for me. Apparently were going to make a splash in FA whenever that actually happens. I'm not that down on JJ for taking Murray. He's a productive back with some size and speed to him. This might be the official end to Barber now and put Choice on notice that he has to step up his game. Overall, I'm okay with this draft. We added some solid players, but more work is needed in FA.

Stephen actually mentioned offense too in FA. The reporters were pushing the question on defense and he specifically said we may not be done on offense too.

I'm wondering if they go out and try to get someone like Blalock instead of resigning Kosier.

Try to get one more year out of DAvis and 2012 is:

LT - Smith
LG - Arkin
C - Gurode or Nagy
RG - Blalock
RT - Free

Although this class isn't lights out in terms of immediate impact, it has the potential to be a great foundation for the Garrett era. Tyron will be an all-star LT for us, I'm 100% convinced of that. Being that he just turned 20 (let that marinate for a minute) we're basically getting a teenager that will spend his most important years of growth with an NFL team. It's exciting to think that as good as he is right now, he's probably 5 years away from reaching his potential.

I'm very excited about Bruce Carter, I think he can be a Patrick Willis type player for our defense. He was a legitimate top 20 pick before the injury and assuming the recovery goes as planned he will prove to be a steal for where we got him. I'm lowering year 1 expectations because of the injury, but I'm not ruling out the belief that by the middle of the season he's a regular contributor for us. We've been gutted in the passing game over the middle and it's a relief to finally get an athlete like him.

DeMarco Murray should be a year 1 impact. After we selected him it not only assured me that Barber will be gone, but it confirmed my belief that Choice is not in Garrett's plan going forward. We obviously want speed and big play ability out of the backfield, now we have 2 guys in Felix and Murray who give us that. I love the fact that he's so polished in the passing game, he'll be a nightmare for LB's to cover. Like it or not, RB was a need and we addressed it with exactly the type of player Garrett wants.

The more I think about the David Arkin pick the more I like it. He's got starter potential down the line and in the short term gives us much needed depth along the interior. He's a guy I overlooked throughout the process, but the more I hear about him the more I like. Big, athletic, and nasty... awesome.

Like Murray, I think Josh Thomas has the ability to make an immediate impact and challenge for the nickel job. Scandrick has taken a turn for the worse since his rookie season so it's a relief we're opening his job up to competition, it should only make everyone better. For being such a physical player, Thomas is surprisingly fluid and doesn't have many limitations in what you can ask him to do. My favorite thing I read about him was that he really expected to go on day 2, after he got selected by us in the 5th his HS coach texted him to congratulate him. Thomas' response.. "I'll prove everybody wrong". Gotta love that.

Mel Kiper was raving about the Dewayne Harris selection and PFW rated him as their "sleeper" WR in this draft. He seems to be the perfect slot receiver for our offense, not a burner but is quick in tight spaces, recognizes soft spots in a defense, and has big time run after catch ability which is something Garrett loves in his receivers. This guy will not only make the roster, but will challenge for PT early on as a #4, possibly #3 depending on the future of RW.

Last 2 picks are meh but what can you really expect that late in the draft. Maybe we found a gem in Chapas, he's certainly experienced and seems to be a jack of all trades type fullback.

Love the potential of this class, every pick has a chance to be a difference maker.

I don't think he's two years away.
