IMO his career is OVER. Dude is simply lucky to be alive.
This reminds me of the Sean Taylor shooting when surgeons were hopelessly trying to save his life. The MDs said even if he had survived, he would have been in a permanent vegetative state, because of the amount of blood loss and the lack of oxygen he'd had to his brain.
If the NFL folded tomorrow, the world would not stop spinning.
Get on with the next 70 years Chad!! You still accomplished more in the game than most can only dream about.

He will probably come back healthy at some point. In my opinion, the best career choice is baseball for him. He doesn't have to do much. He was a good pitcher before, and if he can land on an American league team, then doesn't have to bat either. Just simply pitch, and if he does well, then probably will have a longer career, and make more money then his whole draft class. That's assuming he is any good.

This sucks on so many different levels.
Honestly he needs to just give football a rest, and try to salvage his baseball career in a few years if he can rehab properly, the fact that he is alive, and has all his limbs is truly a blessing.
Anyone know if he gets to keep his entire signing bonus? If so that's a decent consolation prize to losing your NFL career.

Yep, back in early June, lucky for him:

The former LSU standout received a four-year contract with the standard base salaries of $320,000, $405,000, $490,000 and $575,000 as well as an undisclosed signing bonus.

I just wasn't sure how it works with keeping a signing bonus with an injury afterwards, nor am I sure on what type of signing bonus he received.

If that's the case then I agree with whoever suggested baseball. Rest and heal, train full-time while living off your $800K, and go make more money for a longer period of time while putting less stress on your body.

Well that is a nice consolation, but still, the guy hopefully will be able to walk normal again...... forget playing in the NFL.

Still sucks so hard. What is it with our luck with Safeties and career ending/threatening injuries?

If he does want to stick to football I wish him a full recovery and would love to see him come back for the giants. But those who've mentioned baseball as a good alternative have a very good point.

Glad he's alive. Sad that his career is probably over.
What's with us and having safeties with career ending injuries? I thought Chad was gonna be a good one too.
