if Rodgers does only miss 3 weeks....they can still finish 11-5 or 10-6 if they can just get at least 1-2 out of their next 3 games

shame they didn't have the backup QB situation handled. If they had a competent option, they might have been able to pull that game out vs Chi last night

This is why a good back up QB matters. Just get 2 wins out of the 4 Rodgers is missing, including last night. It could be worse and still be Harrell.

On his radio show just now, Rodgers didn't paint a pretty picture regarding the injury

confirmed it was a fractured collarbone, didn't have a timetable for return but called it a "significant injury"

Maybe this is the year they decide to address it with something other than a late round pick, UDFA, or scrap heap veteran. Let's not get our hopes up though we all know it is more likely Tolzien will be the #2 next year.

Packers are too stubborn to give up on Seneca this fast. Cheeseheads know this.
They stuck and gambled with Graham Harrell for the whole year last year.

Matt Flynn, apparently, has an elbow or shoulder that's bothering him.

The Packers need a QB who can keep the safety back so that Lacy, Starks, and Franklin have some room to run.

I don't see Wallace being able to do that after this one week where the Bears seemed caught off guard against the run, or most likely bad because no Briggs and missing a bunch of DTs.

By the way, the Packers lose at the Giants with Rodgers.
With Wallace or Tolzien, no prayer in hell they win. Barring Eli injury.

Cowboys LBers have injuriez tonight.

Couple that with their DL being totally decimated, that's bad news....
I see Kevin Carter just tried to get even there with the wicked horse-collar on Darren Sproles.... almost broke Sproles leg/ACL in half.

The Seahawks are expecting to be without cornerback Brandon Browner for an extended period of time.

Appearing on radio station ESPN 710, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said that Browner's groin injury sustained against Atlanta could keep him out "quite a while."

Won't affect what they're trying to accomplish there unless it was a season ending injury.

Someone please start updating the injuries here from your team.

PACKERS:

-Rodgers, broken collarbone, out for 4th straight game today.
-Cobb, Randall Cobb, 7th game out today with broken leg. Not expected back.
-Finley, Season over, career perhaps over.
-Starting OT Bulaga tore ACL in preseason, season over before started. Replacement starting RT Barclay will miss his 2nd straight game today.
-2011 first round pick OT Derek Sherrod has made his way back, but yet to take a snap at OT since his double-broken leg in 2011.
-Top 2 CB's, Sam Shields and Casey Heyward, both out today and Hayward was put on IR this week. He only played about 2 or 3 games this year, all from a hamstring! Shields is battling a knee issue.
-#4 CB (now #2 on the depth chart) Micah Hyde is questionable and wasn't able to practice this wek.
-starting OLB Nick Perry is out again. Last year's #1 pick, this guy has missed probably 65% of the games in his 2 seasons so far. Strong looking, but fragile.

His head wasn't on crutches.
He should be good to go in KC.
BTW, he should be the UPS Ground Player of the Week for his effort in Foxboro.
That dude, I gotta hand it to him.
He did a 180 on his career..... reminds me of how tough Thomas Jones turned into, or Willis McGahee. Almost.

Props to Know.

That doesn't make sense. That's ALOT of games missed by starters. And yes, Iupati missed the game.

The difference...

Iupati misses action, Adam Snyder plays very well.
Ian Williams goes down, Glenn Dorsey plays very welll.
Tarell Brown is out, Tramaine Brock shuts it down.
Ray McDonald misses time, Tony Jerod-Eddie plays like a star.

Depth, depth, depth.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10...njury-epidemic

Is NFL experiencing injury epidemic?

Critics believe quality of play is down, but depth -- not injuries -- is the likely culprit
With a plethora of NFL starts sitting on the sideline due to injuries, has the level of play in the league suffered? Cary Chow and Eric Allen discuss.

Quote:
The Green Bay Packers' third-team quarterback takes a snap from the fourth-string center and throws to the team's No. 4 receiver. This is not a preseason game, but instead a key November matchup with playoff implications, one the Packers will lose to the Eagles.

The Seattle Seahawks open a game with their left guard playing left tackle, a third-string lineman starting at right tackle and a backup at left guard. Quarterback Russell Wilson, one of the game's most elusive players, is sacked seven times as the Seahawks manage 14 points in a slim victory over the St. Louis Rams.

The Chicago Bears finish a game with quarterback Jay Cutler and three Pro Bowl defensive players sidelined by injury. The Washington Redskins' previously anemic offense slices through the Bears' backups for nearly 500 yards in a 45-41 victory.

"We're seeing a lot of players hurt," analyst Ron Jaworski said recently on ESPN Radio. "You're seeing a lot of new players going out on the field, not ready to play, not in condition to play. And you're seeing bad football and a lot of injuries right now."
  • There is no denying, however, that certain segments of the injury story are alarming. For instance, more players have already been placed on injured reserve because of confirmed ACL tears (38) than in all of 2012 (32) or 2011 (25), according to ESPN Stats & Information.
  • The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost their top two tailbacks to season-ending injuries and are currently starting Bobby Rainey, whom they claimed on waivers last month from the Cleveland Browns.
  • That's exactly what the Packers have done behind Aaron Rodgers in recent years, but this summer they gave up on the backup they had been grooming behind him. Graham Harrell was released just before the season began, sparking a personnel scramble that has contributed to the Packers' 0-3-1 record since Rodgers fractured his collarbone. Of course, the Packers also missed Pro Bowl OLB Clay Matthews for three games, and both Jermichael Finley and Randall Cobb have been missing in action since mid-October. Finley might never be back. Cobb might be back late this season, but could miss the season.

Maybe they should go back to more off-season workout s and two a days padded full contact.

More off-season workouts perhaps.
Not more 2-a-days full contact though.

I think common sense here is what they should do.

And making 18 games is not that.....

If I was in charge:

I would make the preseason just 2 games.
Each team gets a home one, and a road one.
Then start the regular season in what would be preseason week 4. Make PS week 3 a bye between preseason games and the START.

Then you have an extra week in the season to add a 2nd bye for each team.
More rest, before the season, and in the middle of it.

Also:

They gotta do something better with the helmets.
They gotta force the defensive guys to start TACKLING. Stay on their feet, not launching/diving/tucking like and this and this and this.

They also gotta phase out cut blocks like what keeps taking out OLB Brian Cushing's http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j...85693716884596.
We don't need that, guys can stand strong, up, and make blocks.

To protect defensive players, we gotta cut down on the cuts down into their knees.
To protect the offensive players, we gotta teach players to TACKLE, whether on a defenseless receiver like above with Keller, and Cobb, or a runner like on Peterson and McGahee.

We already have seen the NFL try and keep the QBs on the field away from the ACL injuries like these, by adding new rules. Now defensive players try to avoid their knees if possible.

Better technique = fewer serious knee injuries + fewer stars and starters lost = fewer backups forced in.

Football will always have a lot of injuriezzzz.
But I hate the knee ones most, and appreciate them trying to prevent as many as possible of those!

Some are NOT preventable even with better technique and less bush-league dive-bombing.

I guess it could be worse.

It's football. Injuries happen.

Report: Justin Houston could miss two or three weeks

Not as bad as I thought but still super weak...

Tamba Hali is going to try and play but I doubt he will be very effective.

This is a popular theory, and I think there might be something to it. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but injuries have taken a huge jump during the past several years and it's been a persistent change, so it's fair to say that something changed.
