Oh wow. I don't have any of those games. I played about half-way through FEAR 2 at one point and loved it. Might have to throw down on this bundle.

Used to be, but it appears they went away from that for this one. Shame really. Hopefully they keep that for the Indie Bundles. I suspect this has to do with bigger publishers bitching about people giving away keys.

...but yeah, didn't have any of the games either. Is it wrong that I may not play them for months/years and still bought it anyway? I feel like it is.

I have tons and tons of games that I haven't played or beaten. I need to just hunker down and blast through a couple.

Indeed. There are like 30 games that I own and have never played.

And, yeah, I bought the Humble Bundle. Add more to that total.

Steam is a game itself. Getting vidya games on insane discounts is far more fun than actually playing them.

I lied about the Humble Bundle thing too. You can redeem keys individually, you just need to give the link to someone and have them sign into their Steam account from there. Far more annoying than just sharing a key, but yeah.

...or maybe not. There's some sort of gift button. I MISS THE KEYS DAMN IT :(

Haha, yeah. With school keeping me busy I have SO many games I have yet to play. Dark Souls has been sitting there for a while. I also get stuck on one game for long periods of time which seems to hinder my ability to play other games.

At the moment Day Z and Battlefield 4 are consuming all my game time but the discussion about Dark Souls in the other thread makes me want to give it a go. Seems like a game I would like and I have had it for a while due to an amazing sale on it.

My plan was to blast through a lot of these games this summer but summer classes and playing Day Z for absurd amounts of time killed that dream.

I just looked at the system requirements for CoD: Ghosts. lol wth... Somehow you need a beastly system to run a game that doesn't appear any more technically impressive than the last 4 or 5 CoD games.

The 6GB or RAM thing caused quite a bit of butthurt. Not entirely undeserved. It's only taken up 2GB in the most extreme situations for most people. Won't even launch if you have less than 6 either.

Anyway, not super upset. Activision is incredibly lazy. We all knew that already. With how massive the CoD thing is(even on PC), it may lead to devs being less afraid to leverage the power of higher specs machines.

How much is that going for? I'm going to start budgeting for my new rig in the next month or so. I definitely don't "need" a 780 TI, but it could be an option. Are they also releasing a 770 TI?

EDIT: I looked it up myself. $50 bump in price compared to the 780, which it blows out of the water. Interesting.

Just like the rumors that it was coming out before Christmas 2012? I'll wait till I see something concrete.

Loving my mechanical keyboard by Steelseries. Red switches. So light and easy to press down. Took a little getting use to but it is amazing.

Per Rocket:

Quote:
We finished up for the day here just now. It was a good day, the focus has been:

Finalizing the flow into game
Not holding up release

All the basic stuff like, creating your character, joining a server, etc... Then some steam integration so you know which servers your friends are on, and such. We're using steams API, which while is it great being free of gamespy we're not sure whether external apps (like six or dayzcommander) are able to poll steam's servers. So we want to make sure our browser provides some improved functionality.

Optimizing/Bugfixing Dedicated server.
This is why we are not out. We need performance

We think we need a minimum of 15 FPS will 50 players, 2000 zombies, and 25000 loot items. Our latest tests have all shown some runaway systems in the code we have to tidy up. The variable synchronization system that was developed for work with the network bubble, is checking the variables very often. We're optimizing this. Also, there are many string comparisons. These have been refactored so references are used (lookup numbers) to speed up the process. things like animations etc... are generally recorded as strings - ArmA wasn't build to handle very large numbers of things so this has been a large area of optimization.
We also have a bug where sounds (which are temporary vehicles) are being queued up and sent to all JIP players. This causes us a steady loss of performance on the server.
The synchronized variables are also checked for each player, this is inefficient and we are refactoring that. It is our biggest obstacle to releasing the alpha right now. We know what needs to be done with it so we're working on that, then we will again reassess the performance.

Why not just say its not out on xxx day?
If I start saying "oh it won't be out then" people start asking me about the day after, and the day after. So it just encourages people to keep asking me when it is, and the "announced date" would be when I go "yeah, it could be out then".

What we have now
We have now something that provides basic functionality for 10-20 players. The new zombies are in, they provide excellent pathfinding outdoors, and improved pathing indoors. They are capable of breadcrumb navigation or line of sight. At low server FPS they will start to rubberband and glitch through walls much more often. They are very much a work in progress.
Client performance out of the cities is very, very smooth. We still have a bug in the cities that occurs (and shouldn't) that causes lower framerates. This will eventually be solved, but for now it is noticable when looking at center of cities. Overall, the feedback from the testers is that performance is much smoother than with the mod.
The inventory is a bit of a mixed bag. There are some mistakes we have made that, unless we delayed the standalone, we can't fix until later. But overall, I think it is a huge step up. Stacked items, wetness, damage, crafting, containers, clothing, weapons, pistol holsters, bags, melee weapons, chainsaws, masks, gloves, boots... you name it.

So, what next?
We keep optimizing the build. In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to checkout Project Zomboid which is now available on steam. This has been a massive design inspiration and I recommend it to everyone interested in DayZ.

Tried validating local cache twice. That didn't work.

Tried deleting the entire csgo/resource/flash folder and that didn't work. Now I just deleted the entire thing. I uninstalled through Steam then deleted all remaining folders on my computer.

If that doesn't work, I am going to punch something.

keyboard + mouse suggestions? 100$ giftcard to amazon, so only amazon links please :) only absolute necessity is side buttons on the mouse.
I use a Mionix Naos for a mouse and a G710+ for a keyboard. Love both of them.

If you're going with a mechanical keyboard, be sure to do some research about switches. Everyone has different preferences. I personally can't stand blacks or reds. There's no tactile feel. I felt like I might as well be using a rubber dome. Blues are great, but they're super loud. Browns are a nice mid-point. Similar to blues, but not quite as loud. It's very preference based though. Really isn't a great way to try them out without buying them either.

Here's a guide though;

Highly recommend a mechanical keyboard though. More and more affordable these days. Cooler Master sells some really good ones for very cheap under their CM Storm brand.

Keep getting this error.

Do people still play CS:GO?

I'm seriously asking, it's one of the dozen or so Steam games I purchased this past summer and haven't yet played.

I had to choose between Special Forces Team X or CS:GO and without anything to go on besides reading a random comment on a forum that StX was dead, I went with CS:GO.

A lot of people play CSGO, the community is getting bigger, and the competitive scene is the best CS has had in years. Theres a $250K tournament at Dreamhack this month for CSGO.

I've been playing a TON. And when I say a ton I mean way more than I should.

I'm still not very good--just a 2-star, but it's a lot of fun.

I pretty much only play on competitive. I do a little bit of deathmatch and arms race when I can't give a full 45 min, but competitive is where I spend the vast majority of my time. I don't even mess around with classic casual.

There are a ton of people on and at my elo, I don't see too many guys who seem to blatantly hack.

I would say yes there are plenty of people who still play CS:GO.
