Pro Bowl QBs
Who the hell are going to be this year's Pro Bowl QBs?
I'll start with the NFC where there were the Big 4 entering the season:
Brees
Rodgers
Favre
Romo
http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorysta...true&Submit=Go
It's amazing to look at the passer rating leaders right now. Remember how great they were last year? Not this year. Right now, Romo is the leader at 94.9, which wasn't even top ten last year I believe. With him beind out, he's out of the Pro Bowl as well.
Currently, the 1-5 in NFC passer rating is: - Romo
- Brees
- Matt Ryan
- Rodgers
- Eli Manning
Passing yards is: - Brees
- Rodgers
- Eli Manning
- McNabb
- Matt Ryan
Passing TD's is: - Brees
- Eli Manning
- Rodgers
- Romo
- Matt Ryan
I can't believe that Brees still ranks that high.
For the 3 Pro Bowl spots, I think it has to be between:
Brees, Rodgers, Eli & Ryan. One of them will get eliminated.
By the way, here's another indication of how much better the AFC is than the NFC:
Romo's NFC-leading passer rating of 91.4 would rank 9th in the AFC, right between Seneca Wallace and Matt Cassel.
And did you know: Ryan Fitzpatrick of Buffalo has a passer rating of 102, which is right behind Peyton Manning, 2nd in the NFL.
He has 11 TDs to 4 Ints, which is the same as Tom Brady, who's passer rating is 6 points less than Fitzpatrick. In 70 less attempts, Fitz has the same # of TD passes as Brady, which is amazing. Maybe Buffalo doesn't need to draft a QB with that #1 pick.
Vince Young's passer rating is 3rd in the NFL. Ahead of Rivers, Brady, Schuab.

Brees ranks that high because his completion percentage is still through the roof. IT's just that every time he misses a receiver it goes to a defensive player.

Regardless of how great Fitzpatrick is playing, they absolutely need to draft a QB if they're in position to do so.
As far as the Pro Bowl, I have no idea who is going to go, but stats have never mattered for Pro Bowl votes, so why would it now?

He doesn't like the pigskin to hit the ground I guess.
I was blown away by Fitzpatrick's stats.... I need to trade for that guy in my fantasy league since I lost Romo.

At the minute I would say the AFC is between Manning, Rivers, Brady and Orton. The NFC is between Manning, Brees, Rodgers and Matty Ice. If Romo had stayed healthy then he would have been there as well but he is, best case scenario, probably going to miss the next 6 weeks at least, taking him out of contention for any post season honours. I would also bet a fair amount of money that one of those 8 guys will play in the Superbowl, scratching him off the list.
The AFC definates, in my opinion are Manning and Rivers. Rivers stats have been scary good while Manning has been Manning. Only 2 picks in 254 throws. I think Brady deserves the third spot but honourable mention should be given to Kyle Orton. Orton has scary numbers as well but has thrown the ball a lot more than Brady who has been his usual, efficient self.
I like Matty Ice as the top QB in the NFC so far this year. 12 TDs and only 5 picks is really good, especially when he best competition are all thrown near double digit picks. Of the four I named only Ryan (5) and Rodgers (9) have thrown single figure interceptions.

If Buffalo picks #1 they need to take a QB or trade down. If they pass on a QB again, there's a good chance they'll be picking real high again next year and still needing a QB. QBs can be traded if a team has two good ones. It's better to have 2 QBs than risk having no QB.

In 2008-2009 season Rivers put up huge stats and didn't make it, I expect the same again.
Manning and Brady are a given. Next is very open, my guess is VY.

Fitzpatrick has an absurd TD% of 8.6. For a point of comparison, Brady had a TD% of 8.7 when he threw for 50 TDs.
Granted it's a small sample size...but Ryan Fitzpatrick?

If Michael Vick continues to play well he will have a good shot at the pro bowl.

He's technically still the highest rated passer in the NFC.

While he has played well this season it is safe to assume that his stats have been padded in garbage time.

No, clearly Matt Cassel is a top 10 QB in this league.

I'll be one of the first to admit, Brees doesn't deserve the Pro-Bowl this season.

As long as he doesn't complete kersplode, Brees will still get in on name recognition.
My guess for the NFC is Brees, Eli and Rodgers. With Matt Ryan having an outside chance if one of those 3 really slips up or gets hurt and misses a chunk of time.

Is the Pro Bowl even an honor anymore? How many starting quarterbacks dropped out last year? Now Garrard actually has a Pro Bowl on his resume.

I think they were down to like the 8th or 9th alternate in the AFC....it was pretty pathetic when they had Schaub, Garrared and VY all there......

Hmmm....nope. Sorry, not on the list. Make your way over to the NFC, I've heard they have a few openings there.
