My point is that the FBI could give two shits about whether or not Cameron Newton is eligible.

I never said they did. They're still going to reveal the pay-for-play that has been going on at Auburn for God knows how long.....and part of that is Cam Newton.

I mean...if they had enough evidence they definately would have been ruled him ineligible but they didn't so they had no choice but to allow him to keep his eligibility

What an incredible coincidence that the two players investigated on top-2 teams recently were both cleared! What are the odds???

what? that LaMichael James stalker new car story is totally legit. you're just a cynic. The NCAA didn't find anything so it must be on the up and up.

Reggie Bush knew nothing of the money his family was taking. His parents set everything up. Can we give him the Heisman back now?

I'm really baffled at how things like the A.J Green, Dez Bryant, Michigan Stretchgate, Troy Smith $500 handshake, Reggie Bush and other issues can be considered major deals, but this isn't.

how about the length of time it's taking for the Dillon Baxter issue (WHICH IS A NON-ISSUE), but this thing gets sorted out in 1 freaking day.

So they are saying that Cecil Newton was wrong in his actions and did try to work a pay-for-play scheme, but are allowing Cam to stay eligible based on the idea that Cam was ignorant to what his father was doing?
JoeJoe is right. This is the playbook on how to pay players and get away with it. The NCAA is incredibly stupid if they stick with this stance.
School recruits player. Player has ancillary person demand money. School pays ancillary person. Ancillary person holds the money until the right time where they can give the money to the player for a holding fee.
Unbelievable, especially when Auburn had ruled Cam Newton ineligible on Tuesday. Yea, Cam is clean.
Not a tainted season at all.

It's pretty simple. If they declare Cam ineligible now.. they lose millions of dollars that he'll generate. If they declare him after they've already gotten those millions, it's all gravy baby.
It makes absolutely no sense that they found guilt and somehow he's still playing.

The'll let Cam slide on this for some of the reasons you mentioned but expect within a year or two for the NCAA to throw the book at Auburn. They'll have to to save face and it isnt like a court of law where they have to prove it beyond a shadow of doubt. The funny thing will be if they dont win saturday and still get burned in the future.

The NCAA not finding anything is like the blind kid losing at Where's Waldo. Hooray.....Auburns 2010 season will be vacated in a few years instead of ending prematurely.....and also being vacated. At least they'll get to print up TShirts this way.

But mostly this. Anybody who doesnt think the NCAA isnt all about the benjamins isn't paying attention.
So the moral of the story is if you know you're guilty as sin, but the payoffs go through enough hands that the NCAA can't put the finger on the player directly before Dec. 31st or the NC game whichever comes 1st, why not go out cheering & partying, yay!! we're no. 1! Cheer on Auburn like you got away with it.
Until the hammer comes down. The stink will magnify by about 400% if he gets the Heisman too.
And that hammer will come down -- ask USC about long term investigations over yrs of multiple offenses & the impact it has on a program.

You know what the really scary part is? If you really think about it.. you think about how this investigation was handled compared to other, easier to determine cases that took much, much longer.. there's a pretty decent chance the NCAA actually chose to clear him NOW to earn MORE money.
How does that work, you ask? Imagine Auburn wins and goes to the championship game. All of a sudden some people have an issue because "hey, Cam Newton could be a cheater.. we don't know yet. Why watch a game in which the best player could be a cheater?"
But NOW "hey, Cam was cleared! He's the best player in college football! Sign me up!"
Also, just to clarify my "millions of dollars" remark, even though no one questioned it, imagine they suspended Cam for the rest of the season. Does Auburn really beat Arkansas? They probably wouldn't be favored anymore. All of a sudden your championship game is Oregon vs. TCU. God knows ESPN loves the little guys but, let's face it, Oregon vs. TCU generates maybe, MAYBE, 75% of the revenue of Oregon vs. Auburn. You would have lost all your support from the big two conferences (SEC and Big 10.) PLUS you now have a second BCS game with Camless Auburn vs. maybe Stanford? Wisconsin? Blowout.
Or even if they beat Arkansa.. Oregon vs. Camless Auburn? Who wants to watch a hapless Auburn team get blown out?
The NCAA is a business and they just made a wonderful business decision.

I was talking to some people about this today and one said "If he is declared ineligible today, do you put Arkansas in the SEC title game? Do you keep Auburn there, even though [when] Cam is found ineligible they will be forced to vacate all those wins? It's all messy right now, if anything happens it will come post SEC-title game or post-NC."

Does anyone here really believe this isn't someone in major college athletics protecting "the establishment"?
If anything comes out that validates this opinion, I think every non-AQ school should file a lawsuit against the NCAA for acting as a cartel. If you don't think this is bigger than just Newton, you're seriously naive.

it took me 3 months for the NCAA to clear me after I was declared ineligible for a missing quarter on my HS transcript. It would take a minimum 2 weeks for them to respond to any inquiry our compliance department had, yet Cam Newton gets a decision in 48 hours? I want some consistency, I can't get those 3 months of practice back, can I?

Pretty sad on the NCAA's part and it sets a precedent for any other scandals similar to this one.
I believe the ulterior motive of keeping a non-AQ school out of the national championship game really came into play with this decision. Here's hoping that South Carolina beats Auburn this weekend.

Like the SEC refs will let that happen. With a team on the verge of going to the BCS CG, they will get every call and SC will get hosed.
