This is a team that should be closer to $30m and looking to consolodate young talent into a couple of centerpieces (or just continuing to build up their young guys) like Portland and Chicago did, but they just keep ******* it up.

They should be trying to turn Beasley, Flynn, Darko, and Ridnour and #2 into Rashard Lewis, Javale McGee, #6, and something extra. And I'd probably still take Kanter. Size is so important in the NBA. It's been the deciding factor in the all of the NBA Finals that I can remember. Lewis is a nice trading piece in a couple years while still being a productive member of a team.

Rubio, McGee, and Love is the start of a team that might do something.
How exactly do you know what we're going to get for Beasley? That's complete speculation on your part.

Cap room isn't a problem for us at all. We have the third lowest payroll in the league. And 3.5 mill for Ridnour really isn't a bad contract.

Also you're getting on us for taking on supposedly bad contracts then suggest trading for Rashard Lewis? What?

My post was kind of in two parts. The first paragraph is being a pessimist/realist about Minnesota being the team trying to trade him.

Of course it's speculation, saying I'm wrong is also speculation... I'd rather keep Beasley than trade him and draft Williams. Just doesn't make any sense to me. If you're going to move guys, you have to get bigger and more talented at positions that are problem areas.

Lewis is one big contract that has two years on it. It's a valuable expiring contract after a year...which is when the team could be an attractive destination of winning for good players if the rest of the team works out.

Signing Ridnour AND Sessions was awful. Mostly because it just highlighted that the team has no direction or foresight, and make compounded bad decisions.

Here's where your idea sucks though.. They don't need expiring contracts to later move for players that wanna go to Minnesota. They already have cap room to sign or trade for them. Trading for Rashard Lewis would be ******** in every single way imaginable. The Wizards would throw a parade if someone was dumb enough to take on the $45 million that Lewis is on pace to steal from them.

If all goes well on Thursday and Utah or Toronto doesn't snipe him first this should be John Wall's newest running mate:

With Mcgee and Vesely Wall can just stand at half court and throw alley oops all day. Vesely's skill set is underrated though. A guy with his motor and athleticism will do things in this league. Hopefully he doesn't try to gain weight at play PF because his skills fit the SF position perfectly.

not really. Doesn't have nearly the shooting or offensive polish of Gallo, but has superior athleticism and defensive potential. He's more similar to young Josh Smith than Gallo.

I'm liking the idea of pairing Irving with Valanciunas. Both guys are like 19, so there's a really long ways off before we really know what their potential really is. But Valanciunas is a perfect fit for the Cavs being a Lithuatian/Eastern European big which will remind Cavs fans of Big Z. Replacing Big Z with Big V is only fitting. I just hope they get the buyout thing settled. I don't know who they take if they dont take Jonas V at #4, but it really doesn't sound like it'll be Enes Kanter. Haven't heard a single glowing review of him in weeks now, his stock seem to be sinking.

The only way the Bulls would get Brooks is if they trade up to like #15

Meh...Kanter has had multiple workouts with the Cavs, well Monday is his next one, at least. And if the T'Wolves decide to pass on Williams, Kanter is probably the pick at 2. His stock is steady. I'd take Kanter over Valanciunas, if I was in Cleveland's place. But if they go Irving at one, and Williams doesnt some how fall to four, that pick will more than likely be one of the two. The Wizards really like Kanter as well. He just had a great workout with them.

I agree Kanter is a better pick for Cleveland, while he's more of a 4 which would be the rationale for the Jonas pick, playing beside an athlete like Hickson he would be fine at the C, Jonas though definitely has more potential and is a more known commodity. I think it could go either way but with the Cavs wanting immediate results and the potential buyout issues with Jonas, Kanter would definitely be the better pick. I still think Vesely at #4 would be a good pick if they take Irving #1.

I've browsed around some NBA draft forums and it looks like a good number of people believe Kyrie Irving is gonna bust. Why is that?

Because he's not a can't miss prospect. Not a great athlete.

He's not going to bust though. He might not live up to the normal standards of a #1 overall pick but he's a good floor general and a great shooter, and is going to be an above average PG.

Irving is a bit underwhelming as a #1 prospect, that's why I do have Williams rated as my #1 if he can stay at PF because he has the athleticism and skill set to be a special stretch 4. Irving will likely have a Jameer Nelson type impact in this league. Solid PG but not a franchise changer.

This is an interesting thought. I wonder how the top of the draft would fall if Minny decided Kanter were a better pick for them. Certainly seems to change the top a little bit as the Jazz have pretty much been locked on Knight for the past 3 weeks or so, but they would have to take Williams if he fell to them.

1. Cavs - Kyrie Irving
2. T'Wolves - Enes Kanter
3. Jazz - Derrick Williams
4. Cavs - Jonas Valanciunas?
5. Raptors - The standard pick here is Knight if he falls, but I've heard some say they like Kemba over Knight. Also hear they like Vesely for athleticism and Biyombo/Kawhi for their defense
6. Wiz - Vesely or Kawhi? They pass on Knight if the Raptors do.
7. Kings - Knight > Kawhi > Jimmer > Kemba although if the missing Jonas brother somehow falls, you could probably put him anywhere from 2-5 as a darkhorse in this flowchart
8. Pistons - Vesely > Kawhi > Biyombo > Kemba
9. This is getting too difficult. I give up. I'm probably entirely wrong and I'm sure this hypothetical scenario will never happen anyway.

But gosh darnit I want Knight on the Kings!

The only position where it looks like Cleveland wont get any 1st round draft help will be at SG. It's going to be interesting to see who they fill that void with. More than likely they'll need to fill SG and SF. Maybe Sessions can help them fill one of those spots. haha...I'd love to see them land Bill Walker in a trade with the Knicks. It'd be fun to see what Walker could do with starter minutes. The Lakers could try to grab Sessions as well. They dont really have any good SG/SF to offer, though...unless you count Ebanks. :/ Maybe Portland will call about him also...they have tons of redeemable talent they could offer up. I'm excited to see what direction they go in.

I hated Ramon Sessions. I like my PG's to at least be somewhat of a threat from the outside to open up the floor, he was the worst shooting PG I have ever seen. I'd take Rondo's jumper over his 100 times out of 100.

Cleveland will likely use their 14.5 mil exception to land a SG. Are they dumb enough to take Ben Gordon's contract, maybe.

A look at the previous decade of #1 overall picks:

John Wall 2010
Black Griffin 2009
Derrick Rose 2008
Greg Oden 2007
Andrea Bargnani 2006
Andrew Bogut 2005
Dwight Howard 2004
LeBron James 2003
Yao Ming 2002
Kwame Brown 2001

Where does Kyrie Irving rank among these players? And where does Derrick Williams rank among these players?
