I like Sessions...but typically, I def. need my PGs to be able to hit from long range with regularity. I also hate most PGs who cant make free throws. It's pretty inexcusable coming from a PG, imo. Rondo's a fine player, but he would drive me absolutely crazy with his 20% shooting from the arc and his **** free throw ability, which is on par with a lot of Centers. Just not my type of player at all.

I'd say Kyrie and Derrick rank around where Bargs and Bogut were as prospects. Most of the others were surefire #1 picks, some people favored Okafor, Beasley, and Durant over Howard, Rose, and Oden but they all still clearly had #1 talent. I don't remember enough about Kwame as a prospect to put him into perspective.

F that. If they could land someone with the trade exception, that'd be fantastic. But to land Gordon would be a freaking albatross move on several levels. **** contract and a **** player. They could do much better. You dont try to build around Ben Gordon...period. haha.

It obviously wouldnt' be straight up for BG or Rip, the Pistons would give them the 7th pick.

If I'm the Kings, I would totally take a Rip or Ben Gordon contract if it came with the #8. Then I would use the #7 and #8 to either move up into the top 3 or grab a veteran SF like Granger or Iguodala.

speaking of how Irving ranks with other #1 picks. How does he compare to the other #1 point guards like Wall and Rose.

As a prospect he's more in the category of Mike Conley Jr. My comparison for him is a more talented version of Kirk Hinrich coming out of KU.

And the Pistons already turned down a deal that sent out the 8th pick and Hamilton for Cleveland's TPE. They aren't interested in giving up their pick anymore with the ownership situation settled and the possibility of having an amnesty clause in the new CBA. They're going to have to do something if the cap is coming down and/or turning into a hard-cap.

Is it me, or are most NBA Drafts considered 'weak'. Either the Draft is weak because it has no elite prospects or it's weak because it only has one or two elite prospects and the rest of the Draft is a bunch of questions marks. All I know is the there's a lot of valuable NBA players who weren't considred locks to be stars when they were drafted. Jason Kidd is the only player I see on the Mavs who was considered a safe bet for stardom when he was drafted.

Weak drafts definitely exist. Take the 2000 draft for example

First 15 picks:

1. Kenyon Martin
2. Stromile Swift
3. Darius Miles
4. Marcus Fizer
5. Mike Miller
6. DerMarr Johnson
7. Chris Mihm
8. Jamal Crawford
9. Joel Pryzbilla
10. Keyon Dooling
11. Jerome Moiso
12. Etan Thomas
13. Courtney Alexander
14. Mateen Cleaves
15. Jason Collier

That's horrendous I see so many horrible busts and average players. Only allstar is Kmart for a limited time.

06 draft is pretty horrible to, in the top 15 picks you have Adam Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Shelden Williams, Randy Foye, Patrick O'Bryant, Saer Sene, Hilton Armstrong, Cedric Simmons. That's 9 of the top 15 picks being busts with Brewer, Sefolosha, Redick just being average players for their draft slot.

It's dumb to look back and call a draft class "weak". Most drafts will be considered "weak" five years down the line. As prospects, it's a different story.

What was the year Olewakande was the number one pick? I think that could've been the worst draft ever. And wasn't Mark Madsen a #1 overall pick in one draft?
Never mind. Just read that he was a first rounder, not a #1 overall pick.

huh no the lakers like got him in the late first, although coming out of stanford i would have expected him to play the way Humphries did this year.

Olowakandi was #1 in 1998. Vince Carter, Antwan Jamison, Mike Bibby, Paul Pierce and even Dirk Nowitzki were in that draft. At that point, Dirk was a rail thin unknown who could shoot.

Speaking of ****** 1st rounders...I got in a friendly argument with two of my co-workers the other day, about Joe Smith being a 1st overall pick. They didnt believe me that he went #1 at all. Jerks.

The whole view of a Draft's strength seems to be centered around how many elite prospects there are. There's rarely going to be more than one or two of those guys in a Draft, so it's oversimplification to base the opinion of a Draft's strength on one or two the the 60 players drafted.

In a sense, sure, but if not elite prospects you're still thinking of great prospects.

Let's go back ten years and look at the 2001 draft. Kwame Brown was obviously a bust, which is what most people remember from that draft, but after him there were a lot of great, if not elite players: guys like Pau Gasol (3), Joe Johnson (10), Zach Randolph (19), Tony Parker (28), and Gilbert Arenas (30) were all great players at one point in their careers, if not elite. You could also add guys like Tyson Chandler (2), Jason Richardson (5), Shane Battier (6), Richard Jefferson (13), and Gerald Wallace (25).

Again, this is a draft most people remember off the top of their heads for the Kwame bust, but it turned out a solid % of very good players. I really don't see that with this draft, at all, which makes it weak for reasons for beyond lack of elite talent.

Well, you're actually comparing it to a very, very strong draft. There was a lot more players that you didn't name that played key roles on NBA rosters for a long time. Vlad Rad, Troy Murphy, Jason Collins, Brendan Haywood, Samuel Daelmbert, Jamaal Tinsley, Brian Scalabrine (how is he still on an NBA roster, seriously?), Bobby Simmons and Jarron Collins.

That's a hugely successful amount of players in one draft, and that was ten years ago. I don't there are many other drafts that can compare with the amount of good/solid players that '01 class produced.

I think there's a lot of talented players with potential to be good/very good in this '11 class. I don't know how it'll compare to other drafts, but everyone in the lottery should come away with a guy they can coach and develop to start on their team.

I just picked it cause 10 is an easy number. I could have picked the draft with Lebron, Wade, Carmelo and Bosh.

If I'm a Lakers fan...I'm loving all this Pau Gasol for Kevin Love and #2 overall talk. I hate the Lakers, but I hope it happens. Landing love and Williams would be amazing, and Gasol/Rubio could be really fun to watch as well.
