The Other Pouncey: Is It Just the Name?
I haven't gotten into much draft yet especially into o-lineman, but I see more and more people knocking the Pouncey bro who is still at florida..
Is he good or is it just because his brother is a baller?

The other Pouncey isn't bad, he just struggled snapping the ball as a center. He could be a very good guard in the NFL, I don't know if they are on the same level but if I were the Steelers I would definitely look into reuniting that tandem.

I'd be happy to put him in between Thomas and Mack

Maurkice Pouncey was an elite center prospect and is supposedly having a great rookie year. It's not really much of an insult to say his brother is not as good a prospect. However, they obviously have a lot in common, so it's not hard to imagine that Mike can at least be a serviceable NFL lineman.

You wouldn't once you saw how much the line misses Steinbach. I do not get your obsession with replacing him.

I don't think he'll be a center like his brother, but he'll be a good guard to pick up in the early 2nd round.

he absolutely deserves any praise he might get...hes been among the elite at the position since day one.
he gets wilfork this week on national tv..should be good stuff.
i like mike alright, he will probably get a hard look by the steelers, thats serious chemistry there. hes not nearly as silky smooth as pouncey but hes a good/great guard prospect

Great player as a guard. All SEC at that position, struggled early this year snapping in Gun formation. Will definitely be drafted as a guard but having other experience wont hurt his stock

Yea people perceive his stock to be dropping but he was struggling mainly with the shotgun snap, he was terrible in some games at that, but it's not like he was getting trashed and thrown around at guard. I need to see more to figure out where he should be drafted, and it's hard to tell if he's really improved all that much since he's a center but the experience can only help him.
I don't think is on the level of his brother or Iupati as a prospect, but he seems like a Duke Robinson type of prospect if he can finish out the season playing strong.

If people think he is an early 2nd round guard, doesn't that mean he should be a future pro-bowler?
That's high for a guard.

He was one of those guys who slid way further then anyone expected honestly. People were calling him a late 1st rounder, early 2nd rounder, had huge size to his advantage, played on that prolific OU offense and was a two time all american. He was very decorated and people thought very highly of him, I still don't know why he fell as far down as he did and I do expect Pouncey to go a few rounds earlier but if Pouncey is perceived as the same type of prospect as Robinson in the spring it certainly won't be a bad thing.

Peyton Hillis doesnt want anyone tinkering with that group either. Big picture i think they have enough needs on that team that O-line wont be one of them.

We need a long term answer at right tackle in a bad way and some guys to start developing in the pipeline like Billy Yates

Pouncey just can't seem to grasp the center position, although he's playing better than he was at the beginning of the season.
I like him much better as a guard, and he could find his way into the end of the 2nd/early 3rd round, IMO.
