If you are starting a Franchise which center do you want?
Nick Mangold or Maurkice Pouncey

Steelers fans really have it hard for Maurkice Pouncey. Nick Mangold 100/100 times.

I picked Mangold, but I came into this thread thinking Mack would be option 2.
This has been Mangold's worst season, but he's still a top tier C.

Pouncey and Mangold are on entirely different tiers. This poll is silly. It's like "If you are starting a Franchise, which QB do you want: Orton or Rodgers?"

Look, I love Pouncey just like every other Steeler fan around the world, but to put him in the same sentence as Nick Mangold right now is silly. Pouncey has the potential to be on his level, but right now, it's no debate. Give me Mangold and probably Mack over Pouncey.

pouncey is sweet sexual magic on turf. i wanted mangold bad the season we got holmes but pouncey is right up there with him and is already playing among the elite of the position.
mangold more established sure, sky is the limit for pouncey though

Pouncey has played very well for a rookie center, but Steelers fans would lead you to believe that he is much better than he really is. Kyle Williams completely abused him. It was one of the more dominating performances I've seen by a defensive tackle at the pro level. Haloti Ngata (twice) and Mike Wright also got the better of him in their respective games. He's got a chance to be a great center, but he's not there yet. Right now, he's the only above-average starter on a poor offensive line.

kyle williams abused him totally, and kemoeatu as well...that was by far his worst game as a pro and its not even close (oddly enough he was up for rookie of the week that week? lol)...other than that hes been pretty spectacular, i cant really complain about him stalemating with ngata most the time since ngata is a manimal.
essex is truly terrible on the inside and average on the outside, and jonathan scott is pathetic, pouncey has made them look serviceable though i cant complain. once we get a RG (mike pouncey?) and starks or a new LT i think this will be a good unit

I'm surprised that Pouncey even has 5 votes. I think he could become a stud, but he's got so far to even be worthy of comparing to Mangold that it's kinda sill. It'd be like me asking whether you'd rather have JPP or Mario Williams, sure JPP could become better than Mario, but right now he's got so far to go that only an idiot would take JPP over Mario.

By saying he could be better than him. Technically anyone could be better than anyone if you want to stretch it that far.
I got the point though.

He was just using it as an example not saying it's what he felt, but that example he used is pretty much just like the question the OP asked. It's not like he was using it as a chance to hype up JPP. And yes anyone could be better then anyone, but I think it holds some merit when your talking about a rookie who has already started playing at a high level and was perceived to have a high ceiling as it is.
I'm just more confused that Alex Mack wasn't an option here. He's been alot better then Pouncey has and you can at least make a case for him over Mangold. I'm still taking Mangold if I am starting a franchise though, how nice is it to land a franchise LT and C in the same draft.
