More news - Antonio Johnson and Eric Foster have re-signed with the team. I think this means we won't see Franklin or any other FA DT, which sucks. But AJ is the best run stopper we have had in several years. Better than re-signing Muir and Dawson.

There's a real possibility that the Colts might be the only team bidding for CJ. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 1-year deal for vet minimum in a few days. Even if Diem is the starter, would be great to have him as far as depth is concerned.

I was hoping that we are done with Diem.
Just because he knows the system doesn't make him a good player.

That's why I want him to be a Colt, hits hard, but he's also one of the surest tacklers in the NFL. He just needs to get a little better in coverage.

lol I see. I hope it gets done but so far this offseason it seems like if something "makes sense" there is no way that Chris Polian or Jim Irsay get it done

We signed Jammal Anderson. Great use of our money.

Actually, Anderson has been a solid run defender at DT for the Falcons, and I'm sure he came cheap, so while I can tell your post is latent with sarcasm, I also agree with the statement you made, minus the sarcasm of course.

This is actually interesting. He has the ability to thrive in this system.
How much did we pay?

Gaither failed a Raiders physical so I doubt you want him.
I would've infinitely preferred Aubrayo Franklin so if it turns out he signed a reasonable contract with the 9ers I will be upset. Hopefully Anderson turns out to be a genius move.

If this guy helps us against the run significantly, I'll be happy.

Seems like he'll play the Brock role of run-down DE and 3rd down DT. My biggest concern is the backlog of undertackles. Moala, Nevis, Mathews, and now possibly Anderson. I like the potential there, but I don't like two UTs lining up on downs other than 3rd and medium-long. The only real NT on the team is Antonio Johnson. I'd like to see AT LEAST one more brought on.

I'd almost still be willing to take Gaither. There were bound to be guys that came out of this lock out that were over weight/out of shape. The important thing is that his past performance would lend to the belief that he would be a better option than what we have had/have so the failed physical could let us get him cheap and then if we get him into camp and thus workouts he would hopefully get back into shape and at the very least if he busts then we didnt pay much for him.
Then again... as I've stated before, anything that make sense will most likely be looked over by Chris/Irsay

My impression is that he failed it because of his back injury, not because he is out of shape. I could be wrong.

Well I'm happy that I won't see Charlie Johnson screwing things up anymore. Best of luck to him.
Jammal Anderson is a good pickup. I'm still mostly concerned about S. It looks as if there will be little competition for Bullit if I'm correct. If he lands the starting job then I will cheer him on and hope he turns a corner, but he just doesn't seem like the physical presence we want in the box like Sanders was.
Can somebody give me a rundown on our CB's and since Hayden is gone how much we can expect from them? Thanks.

I've heard horrible rumors that the coaching staff is trying to force Lacey into the starting role instead of Tryon. Hopefully that is just BS because that obviously wouldn't make sense at all.

Jared Gaither failed a physical from the Raiders, and they passed JaMarcus Russel several times. You don't want him.

Hopefully, Thomas and Rucker help at CB.

Thomas is already injured, don't count on him for anything! I said when he was drafted it was a horrible pick and he'd never help the Colts.

True. I had forgotten about the back

Castonzo signed.
Apparently we signed Ernie Sims to a one year contract. Some competition for the roster?

Signed Tommie Harris to a 1-year deal. Looks like we're making the rounds of former first round busts. Maybe one will catch lightning. The D-line groups a lot deeper at least.
Wonder how this affects the NT/UT status. So far Johnson's the only true NT I think we got. Meanwhile, Moala, Nevis, Eric Foster, Pressley, Mathews, Tommie Harris, and depending on where Jamaal Anderson plays qualify as UT.
Assuming Jamaal Anderson is our 4th DE, that puts us with 7 DTs.

STILLLL need another NT. Unless Moala and/or Mathews is gonna gain about 15 lbs. Can't believe the Saints got Shaun Rogers AND Aubrayo Franklin.

Harris's knees are so shot at this point its almost laughable if they are considering this as a "solution"
