[quote=zachsaints52;3626876]10. Detroit Lions -

CB Justin Gilbert, Oklahoma St. - Like the position
45. Detroit Lions - LB Kyle Van Noy, Brigham Young - a possibility but it appears our GM is looking for another WR.
76. Detroit Lions - OC Travis Swanson, Arkansas - what other OC's were still on the board, he's my #3 OC but draftable in round 3.
111. Detroit Lions - DB Ahmad Dixon, Baylor - Solid pick
133. Detroit Lions - DE James Gayle, Virginia Tech - He's a 6/7 rounder IMO.
136. Detroit Lions - WR Robert Herron, Wyoming - decent pick if we don't go WR at #2.
189. Detroit Lions - DE Howard Jones, Shepherd - UDFA IMO.
227. Detroit Lions - OT Wesley Johnson, Vanderbilt - He's an OG but a decent pick.

Decent job.

I was in class and told whomever that texted me to take the next best DE, and they said according to Scotts rankings he was next.

I think you should look into Howard Jones.... Could be a stud situational pass rusher and in the 6th I personally believe it would be a solid choice. Dude dominated the Combine.

Pretty solid draft. I don't know much about Gayle,Jones or Johnson to be honest.

Not sure Gilbert is enough value at 10, but overall we'd be getting a CB with #1 potential, I love Van Noy for us, Swanson is a good pick to develop behind Raiola, we need a S for development and depth like Dixon and Herron adds a nice speed element to our WR corps.

As for the guys I don't know, you hit on good positions at the least. 2 DEs might be overkill, but whatever in the 7th. Probably rather have a K there.

Hopefully we can move back from 10, or I wouldnt be opposed to moving up from 10 either, depending on the cost and the target.

I like the draft though and it seems somewhat realistic

My preferred first two days of the draft would look something like this:

Round 1 Pick 10 - Traded to Miami for 19 and #50(2nd round). Miami moves up for Lewan
Round 1 Pick 19 - Lions take Dennard
Round 2 Pick 13 - Van Noy
Round 2 pick 18 - (from Miami) - Moncrief
Round 3 Pick 12 - Bryan Stork

I think Detroit is will probably be stuck in no mans land at 10 because I believe that the guys that Detroit should be interested in and present the correct value at 10 will be gone by their pick. These guys include Clowney, Mack, Watkins, Robinson, Evans and Matthews. Though Lewan, Barr and Ebron may be there, I dont think that any of those three would be great choices for the Lions, especially if they have the chance to drop back a few spots and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd.

Dennard may be gone by 19, but at that point they should be able to grab one of either the two safeties or Dennard, Gilbert or Fuller, which I think would all present good value at 19. I'd also prefer Shazier over Van Noy, but I think Shazier will be gone before our pick. Same thing with Lattimer and Moncrief. In the 3rd, a young C to develop for a year would be ideal. I'd be happy with Stork, Martin or Richburg, with the most likely to be available being Stork.

The only trouble with moving back to 19 is that you wouldn't have a clue who will still be available, but 19 is a high enough pick to still get a really solid prospect if there is no run on DB's. An extra second wouldn't be hard to take.

Pick 13 would be a tossup for me between Van Noy and say a Bucannon or a Ward.

I agree, but I dont see 5 DBs going in picks 10-19, not with Donald, Ebron, Martin and the WRs available. Plus I think at least 1 QB will be taken in that range.

I just view it as being a situation where at 10 we miss out on one of the elite talents and the next tier probably goes 15 deep or so with similar rankings and more players that would match their value with our needs.

As for the 2nd rounder, I wouldnt mind Ward or Bucannon at that spot, but I wouldnt mind the Lions moving up to the end of the 1st, maybe with NE, and taking Shazier to fill our hole at OLB.

I would move to 19 for a 2nd in a heartbeat. At 19 you will be able to get: Gilbert, Dennard, Fuller, Pryor, Beckham or Cooks

All of those guys would be a huge improvement to the team and you should be able to find 2 starters in round 2.

That said, I probably don't want to move much farther than 19.

Landing Dixon and Herron with our two remaining 4th round picks would be awesome.
