Yeah, but last two years we were 27th and 31st, lol. That's unacceptable!

If we can have a top 15 defense, and our offense plays the way it should play, we are a legit SB contender.

But we need the defense to really play well in the postseason and peak then. Same blueprint as the last 2 SBs.

I just miss the days of dominant Giant defense. It seems like we won't have that for a long time, we just have to hope they get hot at the right time.

It's a pretty poor blueprint for consistency but you can't argue with the results. We won 2 SBs with it.

We'd be money if we can have a top 15 defense. And be clutch and consistent during the regular season. But right now I just don't want us to give up the home run ball the way we do.

Limit that for a while season. The fact Dallas came back and nearly won it was bad.

Coughlin said Nicks "should be here." Would have been limited but it's not physical problem that kept him away from voluntary OTA. #Giants

We give up the deep ball at a much higher rate without KP. Which is a concern.

But the real problem with our coverage is the seams. We simply cannot defend the seams, because we have no linebackers who can cover, and we lack a quick twitch nickel (unless Hosely steps it up).

If you wanna know how to score 5 billion points vs the Giants, just watch the Saint's gameplans vs us. They just beat us over the seams over and over and over and over again.

No offense attacks the seams more than the Saints, and no defense can't defend the seams worse than the Giants. That's why they always kill us.

And I know everyone keeps saying we don't need linebackers. But come week 8 when we're getting gashed at the seams over and over again remember who kept saying for the past 6 years that we need a damn linebacker!

It's everywhere.. These guys were all playing outside WRs that ran go routes and no one covered the player. The seams was an issue too, but it's all of the above!

The irony of the system is this.. We keep our safties back to avoid the deep ball. And what do we do religiously? Give up the home run ball!

Add couldn't stop the run, and can't get home a lot. Then, what do we do well? What's the defenses role if they can't stop the run, can't get home on blitzes or pass rush, and give up home run balls like no tomorrow?

It's almost comical the way they have played recently.

It doesn't sound good for the Hynosaurus. Teammates on twitter are asking fans to pray for him. That's usually not a good sign.

I might get some heat for saying this, but honestly I'm indifferent to his injury. I never thought he was a very good FB to begin with. I wouldn't be surprised if we could find an upgrade in the open market.

I thought he had improved last year. Plus he can catch the ball. He's not elite or anything, but I thought he did a good job. I'm not so sure we can find a better upgrade on the market, which makes me pretty nervous.

I want to run without a FB. I think it's old school and right now, I would save that roster spot for another position. I would like to see us break away from having a FB blocking.

Nicks didn't show up today at OTA's because he wants it to be known he's also unhappy with his contract.

Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole reports Hakeem Nicks is unhappy with his contract, which is why he didn't show up to OTAs on Wednesday. The Giants now have a double dose of financially unhappy receivers in Nicks and restricted free agent Victor Cruz. Coach Tom Coughlin was noticeably irritated that Nicks was a no-show for "voluntary" OTAs, saying that the receiver "should be here." With Cruz seeking $8-10 million annually on a long-term deal, Cole expects Nicks to seek "closer to the range" of $10 million per year and possibly more. Nicks is expected to show up to the facility sometime this week, and we really wouldn't expect a long-term contract worked out before training camp.

This is becoming annoying. I am unhappy he is a china doll at Wr. Stay healthy for a few seasons Nicks. Prove this season that you can productive and healthy.

A good FB still has a place in football. Ideally you want a 2nd TE who can block like a FB and run more 2 TE sets, but a good HBack is hard to find.

It won't kill you to keep 1 FB on the roster. It adds more plays to the playbook, which I have no problem with. And FBs are easy to find bc they're not high in demand.

Quality over quantity. I rather have a good FB that produces on the field on my roster than a 7th WR who will never sniff the field.

and if your 7th wr does get on the field hes over his head and his impact is minimal because hes a fringe nfl player.

Id much rather they grab a good fullback for wilson and build the team around a strong D, run game, and game management from eli where they can let him loose late if needed. The early 2000's patriots basically.

The fullback would be and NFL caliber player (and a good one because of the supply/demand as you pointed out) and with teams investing more time and cash into nickel Ds and pass rushing, forcing them into a heavier look may be what puts their less talented/utilitized players on the field.

Absolutely. This is why the pistol read option took the league by storm last year as well. It was the perfect counter to the smaller nickel defenses that are overtaking the league. Bc you can keep them in their nickel and run down their throat with misdirection.

I like what the Giants are doing on offense. We are going to be a very balanced and dangerous offense. With additions to the OL, and Wilson/Brown as our RB threats, along with Adrian Robinson taking the next step (I'm projecting here, I expect him to make an impact this year) we can be a very good running team again. And we're already dangerous with our 3 WR set with a healthy Nicks, Cruz and Randle.

This offense has top 3 potential. We're gonna be balanced and I expect our run game to really beat nickel defenses up this year. Teams are going to be so concerned about stopping our pass game that the run game is just gonna shred 7 man fronts.

Think 08, when our run game was dominant bc teams were so afraid of the Eli/Plax combo that they never put 8 in the box. That's what I expect out of this 2014 offense.

Hynoski with a sprained MCL and a chip fracture to the lateral plateau. Undergoing surgery this week and doctors have said he could be back by week 1 but probably not realistic.

That's good to a certain extent. Let's get another FB and see if we can upgrade the position.

If he's an upgrade, slowly remove Hynoski from the equation in a respectable manner. If he's not, come week 1 or 4 or whatever, bring back Hynoski and cut the new FB.
