You can tell Mara was from his end of the year presser. When you're quiet owner comes out and says why does it take 3 years to find out if JJ can play, then that's a big time issue. I am sure he is thinking, we have JJ who has good speed and can play, and you guys are consistently playing him now? Sure you have Cruz, but we went 4 wide a lot in Gilbride's tenure here.

Ace- Double Slot
Trips left and Trips Right
Bunch left and Bunch right

And this was a chance to utilize or possibly utilize 2 slot guys who can move the chains, and at best, could score.

Who is to say if Jernigan played earlier in his career he would have been as successful as he was for those 2 games?

I'm still not going crazy for Jernigan. He was rightfully buried on the depth chart. Sure he played in 4 wide. But when you go 4 wide, is he Eli's 4th read? Possibly 5th if there is a dump down to the back?

How many times do we go 4 wide a game? 3? How much production can you expect?

We could have been more creative with him though. Line him up in the backfield. Have him run wheel routes, swing routes, he could even take a few carries. Hell he did it in college. That's part of the reason why we drafted him.

Cobb does it. We just lacked creativity on offense. It was a very stale and dated offense.

Well I was hoping that type of thing would be for Wilson. :(

We wouldn't have done that with Wilson either. Like BBD just said it's very uncreative. I remember once in preseason we saw something just a little different and I got all excited and then once the season comes nothing. That play wasn't even that creative in the grand scheme of things.

We ran pistol twice this year. TWICE! The whole year!

And guess what? Both were runs that went for around 7 yards a pop. You would think that with Eli getting killed all year and with those 2 pistol plays having success we would run it more than TWICE right?

But na. Let's go 2 WR power dinosaur Iform 7 step drop. It'll work.

2 plays seems like a good sample size.

That's not the point though. They tried it to see if it would work. It did. Both times they tried it. So wouldn't it make sense to like...do it more?

I don't remember specifically. They were both early down plays though.

Depends.. Much more than that. From my game breakdowns our hurry up or 2 minute offense is all 4 wide. I have it documented as Trips left and right.

Why not bubble screens? End arounds like we ran with Tim Carter, and Mario.

That also hurts units that need continuity like the oline. Which is further compounded when you have key players that you are depending on missing significant time with injury (eg Snee, Bass, JPP etc)

I agree with you NYG. There are factors in the Fassell/Payton offence we had that could be explored.

This is one of the reasons I find Dowell Loggains an interesting option as Offensive Coordinator. I had thought we were likely to be very conservative with our offense and basically fix what is broken (hence Sullivan as an option), wheras with Loggains we are likely to have a substantial overhaul of some kind. Even by interviewing Loggains means the front office is open to a shake up.

I hope they aren't bringing others in just to make it look like a real interview process. Manning, Snee, and Cruz all their thumbs up on Sully. They know him, so I hope Mara can give a fair shake to the integrity of the interview process.

That's exactly what they're going NYG. Probably also got recommended by Chris Palmer and am doing him a favor. Looks very good for Loggains to be interviewed by a team like the Giants.

That's my worst feeling. I do think the Sully interview was like that. So Mike, how are the kids and wife? Good excellent. So what kind of beer do you like? Oh good, good. Let's go to dinner..

hours later..

Excellent dinner, we will have to do that again. I'll be in touch.

I really don't want Sully as our OC. I would bang my head against the table. Best time to change systems, we screw the pooch. Get guys who have better track records!

I am not sure, last week Coughlin was talking about doing a search for potential OCs.

It could be they interviewed Sullivan first, he is the known entity and pretty much the baseline for the conservative option.

Then they interview other candidates, exploring how that could work

then they evaluate all the candidates and work out what is best for the Giants.

I actually think Reese and Mara may be involved here.

We all know the offense is broken, sure players are part of the problem, but is the system also broken? do the coaching staff need a shakeup? maybe some combination of all of the above?

I don't get the feeling this is a gimme.
I do think Sullivan is very likely if it was just up to Coughlin, but I think Mara and Reese are also involved, hence the Loggains interview.

I think it is very up in the air at this point.

I think Fewell is solid, his defences are ok. I do think the Tampa2 defences and zone coverage in general have been a little exploited with the passing profilerence.

I think it is likely Fewell is back, but it would be nice to see a system that is a little more aggressive.

I do think the roster has been part if the problem, just look at how a decent LB like Beason has changed the whole unit. Fewell's defences were better in Buffalo where he had quality LBs like Kawika Mitchell and Paul Posluzny

Giants have given permission to Tampa Bay to interview Marc Ross for their vacant General Manager spot.

Fewell needs to go. He can't draw up a blitz to save his life. The fact that he still thinks it's okay to rush just 3 on 3rd Down is hilarious.

I am not sure I like McAdoo as an OC option.

The Packers offense is essentially a West Coast offense.

There are two reasons why I am not sure on the Packers offense here.

First need is a quarterback that can go through progressions quickly, deliver the ball with pinpoint accuracy and get the ball to fast playmakers in space as quickly as possible and let them make plays on the ground. I don't think Eli is accurate enough.

Secondly, while the Packers ran the ball this year, running the ball has been a problem for some time, I don't think it fits Coughlin's style of play.

Here is an article on why Ben McAdoo is getting interest.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...aching-circles

I can see why he is a decent coach, and McAdoo is probably the most experienced canidiate so far but I am not sure how good a fit he is for the Giants.

Bu I guess it is possible that our offense could fundamentally change.
