Yeah it was the king's guard who struck Tyrion. Cersei must have ordered them to kill him.

Tyrion didn't die even if he did die in the books he didn't die in the show he is by far the most popular character. But with that said this episode was 100% awesome I can't wait til next week although this does give the young wolf the advantage.

I'm fairly certain being popular =/= living. Ned Stark and Khal Drago were arguably the two most popular last season and we saw what happened there. If he died in the books, he'll die in the show (I have no idea what happens in the books). That being said, I think he's still alive.

I agree. I don't think Benioff and Weiss care about the popularity aspect. Anyone who watches the show now who hasn't read the books realizes anyone can die at any moment.

Meh Khal Drago wasn't very popular. As for Ned Stark you couldn't write your way around the ned stark death. I honestly don't know if they could or couldn't write around the half man's death. On top of that WTF was on the Iron Throne with cerci??

Khal Drago was hugely popular. They aren't going to alter something as huge as Tyrion's possible death to appease the TV audience.

I got so excited when I saw that Neil Marshall directed this episode during the opening credits. The man did ******* Dog Soldiers which is so damn incredible and he this episode really did deliver. From start to finish just amazing.

Just finished the episode. Good episode, although I wish they would kept to the book's version of how the Wildfire was deployed. Lena Headey/Cersei was fantastic this episode.

For other comments;

All they gave for Tyrion was a slash across the face? His nose is supposed to be half-missing along with a good bit of the rest of his face.

As for Tywin's arrival, was kind of anticlimatic. Felt the sense of defeat for King's Landing wasn't really ominous enough, and they revealed it was Tywin too quickly. In the book all that's know at first is that some army has come to relieve the city; in the show the immediately show the Lannister banners. Thought it should have ended with Tywin's army just entering combat, without revealing it was Tywin and the Tyrells.

Tears of Lys for Tommen. A painless death.

Also, dismissing the popularity factor, changing Tyrion's fate from the books would royally **** up so much in the story, just as it would have had Khal Drogo or Ned Stark lived.

Khal Drogo was awesome! The "throat" scene and the "Crown for a King" scenes are still two of my favorite.
He was definitely one of my fav characters. I was a sad panda when he died :(
