Brandon Prust signs with the Habs. 4 years, 10 million.

Carolina and Detroit are in a strong competition with New York Rangers for Rick Nash. Nothing imminent. Canes said to be pushing hard.
-Darren Dreger
Also, Avs signed Greg Zannon.

Wings don't have the assets to get Nash. It'd require Filppula, Brendan Smith, a top prospect and top draft pick. That'd be counter-productive to the Wings. At least if they aimed to acquire Bobby Ryan or Keith Yandle for similar steep prices, those guys aren't signed to nearly 8 million/year contracts, limiting what we can do elsewhere to fill the gaps left by Fil/Smith.

6th team in the past 28 months for Poni. One year with the Jets, not too surprising.

That is completely reasonable. I'm pretty furious the Wings are dicking around in the Parise sweepstakes and didn't get in on that for Parenteau.

Yeah, that's not bad for PAP. He could do some damage in Colorado with those three scoring centers on the roster. Staz, Radar, Duchene, Jones, Mueller, Landeskog, Duke, Parenteau, Downie, McGinn? John Mitchell on line 4. I forget who else might be around, but that is one very interesting and potentially dangerous group.

The Wings are ******. They could have signed Parenteau and another comparable player for what they're willing to commit to Parise. This is not a team that's one star player from being a legit contender again. They need depth as much as anything.

Well that makes sense. I totally missed them not qualifying him. They know his health concerns as good as anybody. He was the wildcard in that bunch, anyway, with there already being 9 guys for the top three lines.

The Wings are gonna be left standing with free agent cash overflowing from their pockets here. Second summer in a row.

That talk of Nash is complete ********. Holland will NOT part with the absurd haul it would take. We're talking Smith, Nyqvist, Filppula, 1st rounder, top prospects. Something ridiculous that would set the franchise back 5 years developmentally.

****, Toronto made a solid move getting McClement. 2 years, 1.5 per. Not bad.
Tampa taking another risk on an aged, injured Canucks defender. 7.5 over 2 for Salo. Oy.

He'll probably break his wrist signing the contract.

I love how the Lightning have no idea if they are in a rebuilding stage or if they can still compete. Just the most abysmal moves these last two offseasons, discounting the acquisition of Lindback. I wish we could move Vinny for a good young D prospect or for a solid veteran dman.
