Very ugly. Twitter says he has a cut to his lower leg and wont return. I havnt seen anything else about just how bad it might be.

Darn shame. There's nobody quite like Karlsson.

Karlsson's left achilles is cut. Needs surgery. Out for the season in all likelihood.
Can Matt Cooke be banned yet?

I don't think that looked intentional. Hes looking the other way and off balence. But Cookes record leaves room for anyone to think that reasonably.

Cooke will be accused as if it was intentional because of his past, but I do not believe it was. It was a freak play and I hope Karlsson isn't out for a long time.

That was a pretty decent game. Could have been better if we didn't spot them two goals or knew how to clear the zone. Beh.
Anyway, some random thoughts since I've last been here:
Colorado letting up 55 shots yesterday and losing while playing with multiple 3-goal leads. Ha. Their defensive lineup makes my eyes hurt. Give your best player a chance to help somebody out, already.
Had seemingly not been getting much attention with Conacher coming in, but Teddy Purcell has another quiet ppg season going. Love the situation he was able to step into in Tampa for the past few years, nice comeback by the Bolts yesterday.
Viktor Fasth is still really cool. I love that hockey still allows 30-year old rookies to come in and dominate the best league in the world.

At least Barrie looked good for us, Varly's a stud and Duchene and McGinn's chemistry was so good that Joe Sacco had to break them up lest they ruin our tank.
We're currently missing our top line from last year and our two best dmen:
Landeskog - O'Reilly - Downie
Wilson - EJ
All not playing right now. *sigh* Seth Jones will look so good in Burgundy.

We have 6 people on our roster under 22. It's pretty exciting.

I'm really high on Petr Mrazek, but he let up 2 soft goals yesterday. Obviously Detroit needs to score more than 2 goals a game, but that's not going to happen with Cleary and Samuelsson playing top 6 minutes. I'm so ready for the youth movement to begin. Tatar and Andersson deserve more playing time, and I'd like to see Nyquist get an extended chance playing in the top 6.

i'm really high on tatar, he's gonna be a stud. idk why detroit would play cleary and samuelsson above him in the top 6, that's stupid.

Am I missing something with Jackman here? I think he's been pretty worthless for the last 5 years, but st. louis fans love him and are actually talking about retiring his number.
I mean I appreciate what he is, a team leader and a **** starter. But he's pretty worthlessn horrendous with the puck.

I always manage to convince myself that David Legwand is the captain in Nashville and has been for 10+ years.

Mrazek turned 21 years old this week. He's just not NHL ready yet. In fact, with the way the Wings bring prospects along so slowly (plus Gustavsson being signed through next season), Mrazek probably is two seasons away from regular NHL duty.
I still think he's going to be better than Jimmy Howard before too long.
Tomas Tatar has been quite impressive and Andersson too to a lesser extent. Nyqvist needs to be playing with the big club regularly, but I fear it won't be until next season.
I'd love to see the Red Wings running with these lines next season:
Franzen - Zetterberg - Brunner
Filppula - Datsyuk - FREE AGENT (they have the money)
Nyqvist - Helm - Tatar
Bertuzzi - Abdelkader - Tootoo
(Samuelsson, Eaves, Andersson, Emmerton)
